There is no state-issued license specific to ai solutions engineers in Tennessee, so the path runs through education and demonstrated technical skill. Most employers in Tennessee expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related engineering discipline. From there, cloud vendor certifications from AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud carry real weight with Tennessee hiring managers in healthcare IT and advanced manufacturing. Building a portfolio of deployed AI projects and contributing to open-source work is the most direct way to become competitive.
How much do AI solutions engineers make in Tennessee?
AI solutions engineers in Tennessee earn a median of about $122,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,280 for the lowest 10% to over $166,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ai solutions engineers in Tennessee?
Employers hiring ai solutions engineers in Tennessee right now include Crowe, Transcard, and Tencate Grass, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of large healthcare systems, federal research facilities like Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and logistics firms creates steady demand across both commercial and mission-driven AI applications.
Which Tennessee cities have the most ai solutions engineer jobs?
Nashville, Chattanooga, and Memphis hold the largest concentration of ai solutions engineer openings in Tennessee. Nashville drives the most volume because of its dense cluster of healthcare technology companies and corporate headquarters, while Knoxville benefits from proximity to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee's research partnerships, and Memphis draws roles tied to FedEx's logistics AI initiatives and its regional financial services sector.
Are there remote ai solutions engineer jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 0% of ai solutions engineer openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and collaborative-software nature of the work. The portions of the role most commonly offered fully remote are model development, integration architecture, and client-facing solution design, while on-site presence is more often required for regulated industries such as healthcare and defense contracting.
How can I get hired as a ai solutions engineer in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an AI or data engineer associate role at one of Tennessee's large healthcare IT or logistics firms and building from there. HCA Healthcare and FedEx both run technology development programs that bring in early-career candidates for applied engineering rotations. A lateral move from a data analyst or software developer position is common, especially when paired with a cloud AI certification from AWS or Microsoft Azure. Completing a capstone AI project through the University of Tennessee or Vanderbilt's data science programs also strengthens a Tennessee application significantly.
