Analytics Lead Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a analytics lead in Maryland?
Becoming an analytics lead in Maryland typically starts with a bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field, followed by several years working as a data or business analyst. Maryland does not require a state-issued license for analytics leads, but employers in the federal contracting corridor strongly favor candidates who can obtain a federal security clearance. Building a portfolio of end-to-end analytics projects and gaining experience with cloud platforms sharpens competitiveness in this market.
How much do analytics leads make in Maryland?
Analytics leads in Maryland earn a median of about $136,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,930 for the lowest 10% to over $213,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire analytics leads in Maryland?
Maryland analytics lead roles are posted by Dentsu, GEICO, and ARDENT and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's dense concentration of federal agencies and defense contractors means large systems integrators and healthcare institutions are especially consistent sources of openings.
Which Maryland cities have the most analytics lead jobs?
Maryland, Lanham, and Bethesda hold the most analytics lead openings in Maryland. Baltimore drives volume through its healthcare and university anchor institutions, while the D.C. suburban corridor of Bethesda and Rockville draws heavily from federal agencies, NIH, and defense contractors, which is why smaller suburban addresses can appear alongside the state's largest city in hiring data.
Are there remote analytics lead jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of analytics lead openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and tool-driven nature of the work. The parts of the role most likely to stay fully remote are reporting, modeling, and dashboard development, while stakeholder alignment and team leadership functions more often require periodic on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a analytics lead in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an analytics lead role from a senior analyst or data engineer position at a Maryland employer and demonstrating ownership of a reporting or modeling workstream. Large institutions such as Johns Hopkins Health System and University of Maryland Medical Center run rotational and new-graduate data programs that build the project leadership experience hiring managers look for. Building a public GitHub portfolio with end-to-end pipeline and visualization projects, and earning a cloud certification through AWS or Google, gives candidates without a lengthy title history a concrete edge in Maryland interviews.
Where can I find and apply to analytics lead jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to analytics lead jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maryland openings. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit your experience and location preferences.
