How do you become a data analytics specialist in Maryland?
A bachelor's degree in data analytics, statistics, information systems, or a related field is the standard entry point for Maryland employers. No state-issued license is required for this role. In Maryland's federal contracting and healthcare markets, candidates who add credentials such as the Certified Analytics Professional designation or clearance-eligible backgrounds gain a measurable edge over those with a degree alone.
How much do data analytics specialists make in Maryland?
Data analytics specialists in Maryland earn a median of about $136,370 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,930 for the lowest 10% to over $213,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data analytics specialists in Maryland?
Maryland data analytics specialist roles are posted by JBS INTERNATIONAL, Saalex, and T. Rowe Price and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maryland's dense federal contracting corridor and the presence of major health systems mean that both government-adjacent firms and large nonprofit institutions are among the state's most consistent sources of analytics openings.
Which Maryland cities have the most data analytics specialist jobs?
Bethesda, Lexington Park, and North Bethesda account for the largest share of data analytics specialist openings in Maryland. The Baltimore and D.C. suburb markets are driven by a combination of major health systems, federal agencies, and financial services firms, while smaller concentrations in places like Annapolis and Columbia reflect the state's technology park campuses and defense contractor offices.
Are there remote data analytics specialist jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most fields, since data analytics work is largely desk-based and translates naturally to remote or hybrid arrangements. About 73% of data analytics specialist openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broad employer flexibility in this role. Positions focused on dashboard development, reporting, and statistical modeling are most frequently posted as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a data analytics specialist in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an analyst associate or junior data analyst role at a Maryland federal contractor or health system, where entry-level programs exist precisely for candidates building their first years of experience. Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos both run structured early-career development programs in Maryland. Lateral moves from roles like business analyst, research assistant, or data coordinator are common, and a portfolio of projects built with publicly available datasets strengthens any application significantly.
