Application Engineer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a application engineer in Florida?
Most application engineer roles in Florida require a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, computer, or systems engineering from an accredited program. Florida does not issue a state license specifically for application engineers, but roles at defense contractors or in regulated industries may require a Professional Engineer license through the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. Building relevant experience through co-ops, internships, or adjacent technical support roles is the most common path into the position.
Which companies hire application engineers in Florida?
Employers hiring application engineers in Florida right now include Ryder System, SpaceX, and CVS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of aerospace primes, medical device manufacturers, and industrial automation firms means demand stays relatively consistent throughout the year.
Which Florida cities have the most application engineer jobs?
Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando account for the largest share of application engineer openings in Florida. Orlando drives volume through its aerospace, defense, and simulation technology sectors, while Tampa's mix of manufacturing, healthcare technology, and enterprise software firms keeps a steady pipeline of openings, and Miami's role as a regional headquarters hub for global technology and industrial companies adds further concentration.
Are there remote application engineer jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, since application engineers often need to be on-site for installations, demos, and customer training. About 44% of application engineer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with remote arrangements most frequently available for pre-sales technical support and software-focused application roles that do not require physical hardware configuration.
How can I get hired as a application engineer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a technical support, field service, or solutions consultant role at a Florida-based technology or industrial company, then transitioning internally once you have customer-facing product experience. Large Florida employers in aerospace and medical devices, including defense primes in the Orlando corridor and device manufacturers around Miami and Tampa, regularly bring on associate application engineers from recent engineering graduates. A relevant internship, a strong capstone project, or a vendor-specific certification in a platform like Salesforce, Rockwell, or Siemens TIA Portal gives candidates without work history a concrete edge.
Where can I find and apply to application engineer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to application engineer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly from the listing.
