Sales Application Engineer – Support, Train, and Deliver Technical Solutions

Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys working directly with customers, solving technical application challenges, and helping others understand complex products and systems?

Fire and Gas Detection Technologies, Inc. is looking for a Sales Application Engineer to provide proactive technical support, product and application training, and practical flame and gas detection solutions for distributors, customers, and end users.

This home-office-based role is part of the Sales and Marketing function and supports business growth by strengthening the customer experience and developing revenue opportunities through training, flame and gas mapping, and related technical services. The position combines hands-on engineering knowledge with customer-facing communication and may require domestic and international travel up to 50% of the time.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver product and application training at FGD facilities and distributor, customer, and end-user locations.
• Organize and conduct office-based and on-site training classes, demonstrations, and technical product presentations.
• Help customers understand, select, apply, and obtain value from FGD products and technical services.
• Develop technical materials, presentations, training aids, application guides, and other resources supporting new and existing products.
• Prepare flame and gas mapping studies using appropriate software as part of complete flame and gas detection solutions.
• Provide responsive technical support to customers, distributors, end users, and the sales team before and after the sale.
• Maintain the FGD training facility in Anaheim and ensure detectors, accessories, demonstration units, and related equipment remain functional and presentation-ready.
• Maintain accurate training records and customer data, monitor training history, and proactively encourage refresher and repeat training.
• Support the sales team at NFPA, ADIPEC, and other domestic and international trade shows, conferences, exhibitions, and marketing events.
• Collect customer and field feedback and provide actionable input to Engineering and Product Management regarding product development, application needs, and product improvements.
• Coordinate multiple customer-support, training, mapping, and documentation assignments through completion.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree, or comparable qualification, in an engineering discipline.
• At least five years of field service experience, preferably in fire safety, flame detection, gas detection, security, or related industrial safety sectors.
• Engineering background in flame and gas detection and/or security and fire safety systems.
• Good working knowledge of low-voltage and signal systems.
• Familiarity with digital CCTV camera systems.
• Experience providing customer-facing technical service and support.
• Experience writing and delivering technical documentation for new and existing products.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Experience with CRM or other database-management software is preferred.
• Experience with flame and gas mapping software and studies is preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical guidance for different customer audiences.
• Strong customer-service orientation with a proactive approach.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Product Management.
• Comfortable presenting to groups and conducting hands-on technical training.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally based on customer and business requirements.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
