Assistant Construction Manager Jobs in Alaska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant construction manager in Alaska?
Most assistant construction managers in Alaska enter the field with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, though candidates with associate degrees and verified field experience are also competitive. Alaska does not issue a standalone assistant construction manager license, but contractors working on state-regulated projects must operate under a properly licensed general contractor registered with the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management credential early in your career strengthens applications considerably.
Which companies hire assistant construction managers in Alaska?
Alaska assistant construction manager roles are posted by Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, GCI, and UIC Alaska and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alaska's construction market draws particularly large contractors tied to infrastructure, defense, and resource development, so established general contractors and joint-venture firms on major state or federal projects are consistent sources of openings.
Which Alaska cities have the most assistant construction manager jobs?
Anchorage, Juneau, and Red Dog account for the largest share of assistant construction manager openings in Alaska. Anchorage drives the bulk of demand as the state's commercial and logistics center, while Fairbanks sees steady activity tied to military installations at Fort Wainwright and Eielson Air Force Base, and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley is growing rapidly with residential and infrastructure development pushing outward from the Anchorage metro.
Are there remote assistant construction manager jobs in Alaska?
Yes, but they're rare. About 9% of assistant construction manager openings tied to Alaska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fundamentally on-site nature of construction oversight. The portions of the role most amenable to remote work are scheduling updates, submittal review, RFI processing, and owner reporting, while site walks, subcontractor coordination, and safety inspections require physical presence.
How can I get hired as a assistant construction manager in Alaska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project engineer or field engineer role with a large Alaska general contractor, where you support a senior project manager before stepping into an assistant construction manager position. Contractors like Kiewit and Bechtel regularly bring on graduates through structured field programs, and the Alaska Department of Transportation occasionally posts entry-level construction management associate positions for state infrastructure projects. Completing your OSHA 30-Hour certification and gaining Procore proficiency before applying noticeably strengthens an entry-level application.
Where can I find and apply to assistant construction manager jobs in Alaska?
You can find and apply to assistant construction manager jobs in Alaska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Alaska openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to whichever positions fit your background.
