Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Assist students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities, by providing behavioral support and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods for students with communication challenges.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques tailored to students’ needs.
- Provide physical assistance to students requiring mobility support or physical accommodations within the classroom setting.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement lesson plans that meet each student’s unique needs under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
- Support early childhood education initiatives by caring for toddlers and preschool-aged children, fostering developmentally appropriate activities.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, especially in special education or classroom support roles.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and behavioral disorders.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies for students with special needs.
- Proficiency in basic math skills and literacy education methods.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and professionally.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals.
- Certification or training in deaf education or American Sign Language is a plus.
- Previous experience working in private schools or inclusive classrooms is preferred.
