The Teacher Assistant supports classroom teachers and campus staff in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. This role assists with classroom activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth while ensuring constant supervision and safety.
Under the direction of the teacher, the Teacher Assistant helps prepare materials, maintains a clean and organized classroom, and supports routines such as meals, diapering, hygiene, rest, and play. The position also involves maintaining positive communication with children and families and participating in required training and staff development. Through collaboration and care, the Teacher Assistant contributes to a high-quality early learning experience for all children.
- Support campus staff and assist in assigned classrooms as needed.
- Guide children in activities that support physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development under teacher supervision.
- Respond to individual developmental needs of infants and toddlers.
- Actively supervise children indoors and on the playground.
- Help prepare materials and adapt the physical environment as needed.
- Monitor children to ensure safety at all times.
- Maintain positive communication with children and families.
- Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, hygiene, rest, and play routines.
- Keep classroom areas clean, organized, and sanitary, including light cleaning tasks.
- Complete 20 hours of annual training and attend required staff development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
