Automation Jobs in Omaha: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a automation job in Omaha?
Omaha's strongest hiring for automation professionals comes from its manufacturing plants, food processing facilities, and the financial services firms clustered downtown. Candidates with hands-on PLC programming, SCADA systems experience, or industrial controls knowledge stand out in this market. Targeting mid-size manufacturers in North Omaha and the large insurance and banking operations near the Old Market gives you the widest range of openings across both industrial and enterprise automation roles.
Which companies hire automations in Omaha?
Employers hiring automations in Omaha right now include HDR, FNBO - First National Bank of Omaha, and Conagra Brands, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Omaha's mix of large food and beverage producers, logistics hubs, and Fortune 500 financial companies means automation roles appear across a wide range of industries and employer sizes.
Are there remote automation jobs in Omaha?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the type of automation work, roles tied to physical equipment and on-site systems are rarely remote, while software automation, RPA development, and process analysis positions often allow it. About 75% of automation openings tied to Omaha are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. The most remote-friendly segment locally tends to be enterprise automation and scripting roles at Omaha's large financial services and insurance firms.
How can I get a automation job in Omaha with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Omaha is landing a technician or controls assistant role at one of the city's manufacturing or food processing facilities, where employers regularly train candidates who demonstrate mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn PLC basics. Lateral moves from general maintenance or IT support are common stepping stones. Community college programs at Metro Community College also connect students directly with local industrial employers, giving early-career candidates a concrete hiring channel.
