INTRODUCTION
Avalara is looking for a Senior Marketing Automation Specialist with deep Marketo expertise to help scale our global demand generation and lifecycle email marketing programs. You'll lead the execution, optimization, and governance of email marketing automation programs, ensuring high-quality data, seamless integrations, and customer journeys across the funnel.
You'll work with Revenue Marketing, Marketing Technology, and Revenue Operations. Your goal will be to translate strategy into scalable, automated campaigns that drive pipeline and revenue. Additionally, you'll serve as a trusted subject matter expert and mentor to the broader team.
This is a US-based, remote position reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing Operations.
Responsibilities
- You'll build, manage, and optimize complex Marketo programs, including email nurtures, engagement programs, and triggered campaigns
- You'll translate campaign requirements into scalable Marketo assets such as programs, smart campaigns, tokens, and templates
- You'll establish and enforce best practices for naming conventions, folder structure, and program governance
- You'll support full-funnel lifecycle marketing from lead acquisition through customer expansion
- You'll oversee Marketo data hygiene, segmentation, and database health
- You'll partner with Salesforce admins to ensure clean syncs and accurate reporting for Avalara's email programs
- You'll run A/B tests and optimize campaign performance
- You'll document processes, share best practices, and act as a Marketo subject matter expert and mentor to teammates
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of hands-on Marketo experience
- Experience in B2B demand generation and lifecycle marketing
- Experience integrating Marketo with Salesforce
- Proficiency with smart campaigns, engagement programs, tokens, and dynamic content
COMPENSATION
The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
- Colorado $111,300 - $178,100 (annually)
- Washington $111,300 - $196,700 (annually)
- California $111,300 - $215,400 (annually)
- NYC $122,900 - $215,400 (annually)
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual salary/wage may be based on various factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and the employee’s role.
