Entry Level Behavioral Health Therapist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level behavioral health therapist job?
Start by highlighting supervised clinical hours, practicums, and internships from your graduate or bachelor's program, since entry level employers prioritize hands-on experience over tenure. Tailor your resume to show the populations you've worked with, your theoretical orientations, and any licensure progress. Candidates who hold or are actively pursuing a license such as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT associate credential stand out at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level behavioral health therapists?
Companies hiring entry level behavioral health therapists right now include RHA Health Services, Ascension, and UPMC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. At this level, hiring comes from community mental health centers, outpatient clinics, school districts, and behavioral health staffing agencies that actively recruit new and recent graduates.
Are there remote entry level behavioral health therapist jobs?
Yes, though most entry level roles still prefer on-site or hybrid arrangements given supervision and licensure requirements. About 14% of entry level behavioral health therapist openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with telehealth platforms and larger health systems most likely to offer flexible work settings for candidates early in their careers.
Are these new grad behavioral health therapist jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts supervised internship or practicum hours toward requirements, or explicitly invites candidates still completing licensure. Look for language like 'new graduates encouraged' or 'associate license accepted' as clear signals that employers are open to candidates at this stage.
Which industries hire the most entry level behavioral health therapists?
Entry Level behavioral health therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Government & Public Sector, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because ongoing demand for mental health services, high caseload turnover, and a broad need for supervised clinicians create consistent openings for candidates just entering the field.
