Entry Level CPHT Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level cpht job?
Start by earning your PTCB or NHA certification, which most employers require even at the entry level. Externship hours from a pharmacy technician program give you documented hands-on experience that makes your application competitive. Highlight any retail, customer service, or healthcare volunteer work on your resume, and apply to hospital, retail, and specialty pharmacy settings that explicitly welcome candidates with little or no professional experience.
Which companies hire entry level cphts?
Companies hiring entry level cphts right now include Walgreens, Conduent, and Apertus Compounding, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring is spread across retail pharmacy chains, hospital health systems, long-term care facilities, and specialty pharmacy operations, all of which regularly bring on new technicians and train them within their own workflows.
Are there remote entry level cpht jobs?
Yes, though most cpht work is hands-on and on-site, remote options do exist at the entry level. About 75% of entry level cpht openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, typically in mail-order pharmacy operations, prior authorization support, and pharmacy benefits management roles that handle calls, data entry, or claims processing rather than in-person dispensing.
Are these new grad cpht jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad cpht jobs that welcome recent graduates, junior candidates, and career changers. A new grad-friendly posting typically states that zero to two years of experience is acceptable, counts externship or training program hours toward the requirement, or lists certification as a substitute for a long work history. Look for language like 'will train' or 'new grads encouraged to apply.'
Which industries hire the most entry level cphts?
Entry Level cpht roles concentrate in Retail, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they have consistent prescription volume, structured onboarding programs, and a steady need to bring in certified technicians to support licensed pharmacists as workloads grow.
