Billing Representative Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a billing representative in Rhode Island?
Most billing representative positions in Rhode Island require a high school diploma at minimum, though employers at major health systems and insurers increasingly prefer candidates with an associate degree in healthcare administration or a related field. Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license specifically for billing representatives, but earning a nationally recognized credential such as the Certified Professional Biller designation strengthens your candidacy considerably with local employers in the healthcare and insurance sectors.
Which companies hire billing representatives in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring billing representatives in Rhode Island include Allied Universal, Encore Fire Protection, and Brown University Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of large hospital networks and regional insurers means many of these opportunities are tied to healthcare billing departments, where ongoing claim volume keeps demand steady throughout the year.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most billing representative jobs?
Warwick, Pawtucket, and Cumberland lead Rhode Island for billing representative openings. Providence anchors the market as the state's largest city and home to its major health systems and insurer headquarters, while Cranston and Warwick generate consistent openings because several large medical group practices, regional insurers, and healthcare management companies maintain billing operations in those communities.
Are there remote billing representative jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since billing work is largely desk-based and does not require an on-site presence. About 0% of billing representative openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with the fully remote roles concentrated in insurance claims processing and accounts receivable functions where output can be monitored electronically.
How can I get hired as a billing representative in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to patient access or front-desk roles at Rhode Island's large health systems, such as Lifespan or Care New England, where internal transfers into billing departments are common after a short tenure. Community College of Rhode Island offers medical billing and coding coursework that Rhode Island employers recognize, and completing that program before applying gives candidates a measurable edge over those with no formal training in the field.
Where can I find and apply to billing representative jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to billing representative jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
