Billing Representative Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a billing representative in Texas?
Most billing representative roles in Texas require a high school diploma and on-the-job training, though many employers prefer candidates who hold a Certified Professional Biller credential from the American Academy of Professional Coders or a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist credential from the American Health Information Management Association. Texas does not issue a state license for billing representatives, so earning a nationally recognized certification is the clearest way to stand out with Texas healthcare and insurance employers.
Which companies hire billing representatives in Texas?
Employers hiring billing representatives in Texas right now include CHRISTUS Health, Baylor Scott & White Health, and UTHealth Houston, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large concentration of hospital systems, physician groups, and insurance carriers means steady demand from both established health networks and regional revenue cycle outsourcing firms.
Which Texas cities have the most billing representative jobs?
Houston, San Antonio, and Irving have the most billing representative openings in Texas. Houston drives the highest volume thanks to its massive healthcare corridor anchored by the Texas Medical Center, while Dallas and San Antonio reflect the large regional health systems and insurance headquarters concentrated in those metros.
Are there remote billing representative jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because billing work is desk-based, software-driven, and does not require physical presence. About 11% of billing representative openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible arrangements for this role. Insurance follow-up, claims auditing, and accounts receivable roles are the most consistently remote.
How can I get hired as a billing representative in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a billing associate, patient account representative, or front-desk insurance verification role at a Texas hospital system or large physician group, where on-the-job training is standard. Large Texas employers like HCA Healthcare and Baylor Scott & White run new-hire training cohorts that bring candidates up to speed on payer rules and billing software without requiring prior experience. Completing a medical billing and coding certificate program at a Texas community college, such as Austin Community College or Houston Community College, strengthens an application considerably.
Where can I find and apply to billing representative jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to billing representative jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the employer through the listing.
