Job Summary
EV Solar is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to lead the company's finance and accounting functions and serve as a key business partner to the CEO and senior management team. This position requires a strong combination of operational/project finance and corporate finance, with particular emphasis on financial performance of construction projects, forecasting, cash flow and working capital, accounting and controls, and corporate financial management, as well as strong leadership skills to oversee the finance team.
Key Priorities & Responsibilities
- Project Financial Performance & Operational Finance: Lead the financial management and analysis of EV's construction projects, working closely with Operations, Project Management, Procurement and other departments. Key responsibilities include project financial reporting, job cost analysis, Working Progress, gross margin analysis, project cash-flow forecasting, budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Cash Flow & Working Capital Lead the company's cash-flow and working-capital management, including cash forecasting, AR and collections, billing, retainage, AP management and vendor/customer payment terms. Maintain a reliable short-term cash forecast and anticipate the working-capital requirements associated with EV's project backlog and future growth.
- Corporate Forecasting & Financial Planning: Own the annual budget and rolling financial forecast and support development of EV's long-term financial plan. Provide management with reliable forecasts for revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, cash flow and other key financial metrics, connecting project backlog and execution schedules to the company's overall financial outlook. Support the CEO and management team with financial modeling, scenario analysis and strategic decision-making.
- Accounting, Controls & Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and maintain strong accounting processes and internal controls. Oversee monthly and annual close, financial statements, audit coordination, tax matters and other accounting/compliance requirements. Lead and develop the Finance & Accounting team and continuously improve the department's processes, systems and reporting capabilities.
- Corporate Finance, Banking & Risk: Support and progressively assume responsibility for EV's corporate finance activities, including banking relationships, credit facilities, liquidity management, bonding/surety relationships, insurance and other financial-risk matters. Partner with the CEO in evaluating the financial implications of major contracts, investments, capital expenditures and strategic business decisions.
Leadership Profile
Demonstrated performance, leadership, successful ownership of the Finance function, ability to partner effectively with Operations and senior management, and readiness to assume broader corporate finance and executive responsibilities. The successful candidate should be a business-oriented finance leader who:
- Thinks forward rather than only reporting historical results.
- Understands how project execution translates into financial performance.
- Can challenge assumptions and identify financial risks early.
- Works effectively with Operations, Project Management and other non-financial departments.
- Can communicate financial information clearly to senior management.
- Demonstrates strong judgment, ownership and accountability.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance and/or Accounting. 5+ years of management or leadership experience, including responsibility for developing and managing finance/accounting teams.
- Strong experience in project finance, EPC Construction, project controls and/or construction financial management.
- Strong understanding of accounting, cash-flow management, working capital, budgeting and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within construction, renewable energy, infrastructure or another project-based industry.
- Experience with banking, credit facilities, bonding/surety and insurance.
- CPA, MBA or other relevant professional qualifications.
- Experience with construction ERP/project-management systems.
