Business Development Consultant Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development consultant job in Chicago?
Focus your search on the Loop and River North, where professional services firms, management consultancies, and B2B technology companies cluster and hire most actively. Candidates with a background in Chicago's dominant sectors, including fintech, healthcare IT, and commercial real estate, tend to stand out. A warm network built through local industry associations and Chicago-specific events gives you a real edge over applicants without local connections.
Which companies hire business development consultants in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring business development consultants in Chicago include Huron Consulting, EY, and NTT DATA, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's employer mix skews toward established mid-market firms, Big Four consulting offices, and fast-growing B2B SaaS companies headquartered or with large regional presences in the city.
Are there remote business development consultant jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: client-facing and territory-based positions are typically in-person, while strategy and inside-sales oriented consultant roles are more often remote or hybrid. About 100% of business development consultant openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the highest flexibility found in technology and SaaS-sector roles. Account management and pipeline development functions tend to offer the most remote options locally.
How can I get a business development consultant job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a sales development or business development representative role at one of the city's many B2B technology or professional services firms, particularly those based in Fulton Market or the West Loop. Internships at Chicago-headquartered consultancies and mid-market companies frequently convert to full-time offers. Volunteering with local chambers of commerce or industry groups builds the network and credibility that Chicago employers consistently value over credentials alone.
