Sales Training Manager Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales training manager in Illinois?
Most Illinois employers require a bachelor's degree in business, communications, or marketing alongside several years of quota-carrying sales experience. Illinois does not require a state-issued license or registration for this role. Candidates who hold credentials such as the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance or a sales enablement certification from the Association for Talent Development strengthen their profiles considerably and are preferred by larger Illinois employers in pharma, financial services, and technology.
How much do sales training managers make in Illinois?
Sales training managers in Illinois earn a median of about $130,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,410 for the lowest 10% to over $221,830 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales training managers in Illinois?
Employers hiring sales training managers in Illinois right now include Farmers Insurance, Sherwin-Williams, and Clarkson Eyecare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Illinois's dense mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, insurance carriers, and pharmaceutical companies in the Chicago metro makes it one of the more active markets in the Midwest for this role.
Which Illinois cities have the most sales training manager jobs?
The cities with the most sales training manager openings in Illinois are Chicago, Peoria, and Schaumburg. Chicago drives the largest share because it concentrates major corporate headquarters across finance, insurance, and life sciences, while suburban hubs like Downers Grove and Schaumburg add volume through the regional offices and distribution operations of national companies that have long operated along the I-88 and I-90 corridors.
Are there remote sales training manager jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than many field-based roles, since curriculum development, LMS administration, and virtual coaching translate well to remote work. About 45% of sales training manager openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility on the design and administrative side of the role. Positions requiring in-person onboarding cohorts or ride-alongs with field reps tend to stay on-site or hybrid.
How can I get hired as a sales training manager in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a training coordinator or sales enablement specialist role after two or more years as a top-performing sales representative. Large Illinois employers in pharmaceuticals and financial services, including companies headquartered in the North Shore and western suburbs, regularly promote high-performing reps into regional trainer roles. Building a portfolio that documents a training module you designed or a coaching process you implemented, and earning the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance credential, gives candidates a concrete edge over peers without formal training experience.
Where can I find and apply to sales training manager jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to sales training manager jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across Chicago, the suburbs, and downstate markets. Find a role that fits and apply directly to the employer through the listing.
