The Senior ERP Business Analyst will be responsible for the day-to-day activities and tasks assigned to the support of Workday modules, including HR/Payroll, Supply Chain, or Finance/Sponsored Projects, supporting master data elements, and interfaces with external systems. The successful candidate is responsible for the technical maintenance of the application, including system configuration and coordination with developers for custom program maintenance, and for participating in the maintenance support team response to enterprise-wide customer requests for complex problem resolution. Configuration duties may include standard and custom table maintenance and support of Johns Hopkins enhancements and schema configuration. The Senior ERP Business Analyst serves as the functional system expert for relevant modules and participates in the development of problem-solving strategies, problem resolution, and investigation of unique/first-time instances of system problems reported through the enterprise Shared Services. Applies knowledge of the Workday platform functionality and the configuration toolkit to translate business requirements into functional design specifications, configuration changes or initial settings, module-relevant security settings, and reporting options.
The Senior ERP Business Analyst is required to understand all relevant levels impacted by the Workday system, including business processes and reporting requirements, the user interface, ancillary technologies (3rd party applications supporting Workday), the configuration toolset, and a strong understanding of tables, fields, and the function of source code. Additionally, one must understand the integration of the software platform and implications of module changes on other module functionality, master data impacted, security, and development solutions.
The position requires the ability to support periodic system upgrades and enhancements, understand the impact on the current functionality, test Johns Hopkins functionality in the upgraded release, and communicate impacts to the team and the Enterprise.
The scope of work is at an enterprise-wide level with typical projects impacting the broader customer base of Johns Hopkins and its most mission-critical systems. Projects will include large-scale integration with a vast, very complex, and highly distributed network infrastructure. Projects often require interaction with various departments and teams both within and outside of the IT@JH department.
The Senior ERP Business Analyst is a member of the Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) group within IT@Johns Hopkins and supports the Johns Hopkins University and the Johns Hopkins Health System. The Senior ERP Business Analyst reports to an ERP Manager.
Expectations of the Senior ERP Business Analyst include support/maintenance responsibility for significant functions in the software (e.g., HR Schemas, SRM Organizational Structures, etc.). High-level understanding of ABAP coding is expected. The Senior ERP Business Analyst must have a project.
Management experience and experience leading initiatives, workgroups, and major assignments. Leadership skills are a requirement.
Job Responsibilities
Provide daily support for the relevant functional/technical area within the Workday landscape (including 3rd party applications supported by EBS, integration points with complementary systems, etc.) by recording/providing status on issues, troubleshooting/analysis of issues, identification and execution of possible solutions, testing of solutions, and monitoring of solutions in the production environment. Support should be proactive wherever possible.
Provide daily maintenance support for the relevant functional/technical area within the Workday landscape by recording/providing status on requests, prioritizing tasks, or working with management to clarify prioritization, executing maintenance activities, coordinating testing of maintenance activities, and coordinating the application of maintenance activities to the production environment.
Provide support for the enhancement of functionality of the Workday landscape in the form of participation in design discussions and requirement gathering opportunities, analysis, identification of options, presentation of options/considerations, coordination with other functional/technical EBS and IT teams, testing options in coordination with business users, documentation of design, testing, and acceptance, and production support of enhancements. Enhancement requests are prioritized and managed through traditional IT project management principles.
Provide periodic support for the Johns Hopkins Workday training environment.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration, or relevant functional area. Equivalent experience may be substituted for a degree. Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience working in a functional area or systems analysis, with a minimum of four (4) years of Workday experience. Some configuration experience required.
Experience working on at least one full lifecycle Workday implementation
Self-motivated, self-supervised, and solution-driven
Job Qualifications
Preference given to applicants with direct work experience with the following systems: GHX, Wavemark, Manhattan SCALE ERP, SAP/Workday.
Experience with Mobile Device Support
Experience providing technical solutions in a higher-ed, academic medical center, and/or health care setting
6-8 years of experience in complex system environments, including Workday modules
Experience working on two or more full lifecycle Workday implementations (or significant upgrade experiences), preferably in a public sector organization, external to Johns Hopkins
Experience in more than one Workday Business Suite and/or NetWeaver module
Salary Range: $37.70/hour - $65.99/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
