Tips for Your Business To Business Job Search
Quantify your pipeline and quota results
Business to business hiring managers want to see deal size, quota attainment, and average sales cycle length on your resume. Replace vague phrases like 'drove revenue growth' with specific outcomes tied to named accounts or contract values you closed.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists business to business openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your resume to the buyer persona
Business to business roles vary widely by the buyer they target, whether CFOs, IT directors, or procurement teams. Mirror the buyer language from the job description in your resume so hiring managers see you already understand their customer's world.
Highlight CRM fluency with concrete examples
Most business to business teams run on a CRM, and vague claims of experience won't stand out. Name the platform you used, describe how you maintained pipeline hygiene, and explain how your activity data translated into forecasting accuracy.
Prepare a deal story for every interview stage
Business to business interviews almost always include a 'walk me through a complex deal' question. Prepare two or three concise stories covering discovery, objection handling, multi-stakeholder alignment, and close, so you can adapt them to whatever the interviewer probes.
Negotiate with total compensation in mind
Business to business offers typically split base and variable pay, so evaluate the on-target earnings structure, ramp period, and quota-setting process before accepting. Ask how many reps on the team hit quota last year to calibrate whether the variable is realistic.

Demand tends to be highest at technology companies and enterprise software vendors with large outbound sales teams.
How many business to business jobs are remote?
About 67% of business to business openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote options most common in software sales, account management, and channel partnerships roles. Field sales and roles tied to a specific territory or enterprise account team are more likely to require in-person work.
How do you become a business to business?
Start by building foundational sales or account management skills, either through an entry-level role like sales development representative or business development representative, or through a business-focused degree. Learn a CRM platform, study solution-selling frameworks, and develop the ability to communicate value to multiple stakeholders. From there, move into closing or strategic account roles as you build a quota history.
How do you get hired in business to business with little experience?
Target sales development or business development representative roles, which are the standard entry point into business to business careers and typically require no prior closing experience. Demonstrate coachability, strong written outreach skills, and a basic understanding of the company's product and buyer. Internships in sales operations or marketing at a B2B company also build relevant context that hiring managers value.
What does the business to business interview process look like?
Most business to business interview processes include an initial recruiter screen, a hiring manager call focused on your sales experience and quota history, and a panel or final round where you may complete a mock discovery call or a pitch exercise. Some companies add a written case study or a brief presentation on how you would approach a named account or territory.
