Job Description
Center for Vascular Medicine Outpatient Nurses provide and coordinate compassionate care and educate patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional vascular procedures. The CVM Vascular Labs perform innovative peripheral vascular care in an Outpatient procedural setting. Nurses play an instrumental role in the lab and recovery area, including administering moderate sedation, pre- and post-recovery. Nurses are part of an interdisciplinary team focused on safe patient care and quality patient outcomes.
This is a part-time role; Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays (3 days/week)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides pre‑ and post‑procedure nursing care and identifies opportunities to improve the environment of care.
- Supports departmental goals by adhering to established policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards; complies with all regulatory and accreditation requirements. Participates in updating standards of practice to meet evolving patient needs.
- Ensures accurate and thorough documentation before, during, and after procedures. Provides and receives appropriate handoff reports and delivers clear patient discharge instructions.
- Initiates and completes all required procedural forms related to indications, findings, and complications.
- Monitors patients throughout procedures, providing skilled assessment of cardiac, respiratory, and blood pressure status.
- Safely administers conscious sedation under physician supervision.
- Monitors cardiac rhythms, records EKGs, and tracks hemodynamic data, waveforms, and equipment standardization. Performs or assists with emergency interventions such as CPR and defibrillation when necessary.
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality improvement and service enhancement initiatives.
- Prepares final computerized reports following each invasive procedure.
- Prepares patients for procedures, including providing pre‑ and post‑procedure instructions, verifying required documentation, and ensuring patient readiness. Notifies physicians promptly of any abnormal findings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Travel
Annapolis and Greenbelt offices.
Education/Training
Valid RN license in the State of Maryland.
Experience
Two years of RN experience.
Two years experience in PACU/OR
Cath Lab and Conscious sedation experience a plus
License/Certification/Registration
CPR certification is mandatory. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (must be complete within 30 days of hire).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to practice safely and effectively with or without direct supervision in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrates a high level of clinical competence in nursing care, patient assessment, treatments, and related procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written forms.
- Basic math proficiency required for clinical calculations.
- Basic computer skills required; experience with IV insertion preferred.

- Must be able to work in a patient care environment requiring physical exertion, push/pull, and transfer of patients on stretchers.
- Able to stand for extended periods while wearing an X-ray lead apron.
- May be exposed to bio-hazards such as bodily fluids and X-ray radiation.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to Annapolis and/or Greenbelt, Maryland.
- Must possess the physical ability and stamina to walk/stand for prolonged periods to perform the position's essential functions.
Pay: $48.00 - $55.00 per hour
