Tips for Your Cath Lab Tech Job Search
Tailor your resume to each lab's caseload
Highlight the specific procedures you've assisted with, such as PTCA, stent placement, or EP mapping, and match that language to the job posting. Labs hiring for high-volume interventional work want to see procedure counts and equipment familiarity, not a generic cardiovascular tech resume.
List every credentialing combination you hold
Cath lab postings often require or prefer RCIS, RT(CV), or RCCS alongside BLS and ACLS. List all active credentials with their expiration dates in a dedicated section so hiring managers don't have to guess whether your certifications are current.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists cath lab tech openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target postings that name the imaging equipment
Job descriptions that specify GE Innova, Philips Azurion, or Siemens Artis are signaling a technical bar. If you have hands-on experience with those systems, say so explicitly in your resume. If you don't, prioritize postings that list equipment you know.
Prepare for a skills walkthrough in your interview
Cath lab interviews often include a scenario-based technical segment where you'll be asked to walk through scrubbing in, managing contrast injections, or responding to an intraoperative complication. Practice talking through a real case from setup to closure before your interview.
Negotiate shift differential before accepting any offer
Cath lab techs frequently rotate call shifts, which carry differential pay that varies significantly between facilities. Ask about call frequency, minimum callback hours, and whether on-call differential is flat-rate or hourly before signing, not after.
Cath Lab Tech Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most cath lab techs?
The companies hiring the most cath lab techs right now include Ascension, Trinity Health, and BayCare Health System, with the largest share of openings in Florida, Texas, and Georgia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Health systems running high-volume interventional programs tend to post the most consistently throughout the year.
How many cath lab tech jobs are remote?
About 1% of cath lab tech openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most procedural roles. The sub-areas with the most flexibility tend to be cardiovascular education, clinical training coordination, and remote hemodynamic monitoring support roles.
How do you become a cath lab tech?
You typically complete an accredited cardiovascular technology or radiologic technology program, then gain clinical experience in a cardiac catheterization lab setting. Most positions require you to sit for the RCIS or an equivalent credential through CCI or ARRT. Some techs transition from a surgical tech or radiology tech background and complete targeted cath lab cross-training before credentialing.
Can you get hired as a cath lab tech with little experience?
Some facilities hire candidates with limited cath lab experience if you hold a relevant credential and have clinical background in a related area such as surgical tech, radiologic technology, or cardiovascular sonography. Targeting community hospitals or outpatient cath labs, which often have more structured training capacity than large academic centers, improves your odds as a newer candidate.
What does the cath lab tech interview process look like?
Most interviews start with a phone screen from HR focused on credentials and availability, followed by a technical interview with a cath lab manager or lead tech. You'll likely be asked to walk through your experience with specific procedures, equipment, and emergency situations. Some facilities include a brief skills demonstration or shadow shift before extending an offer.
