The Cardiac Cath & EP Lab at Banner Heart Hospital provides diagnostic and interventional Cardiac and Electrophysiology procedures to the adult patient population. With 5 Cardiac Cath rooms and 3 Electrophysiology rooms, we are a full-service cardiovascular lab providing minimally invasive care for coronary, peripheral, electrophysiology and structural heart patients. As a Special Procedures Technologist, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that performs 11,000 procedures a year serving approximately 5,900 patients. The technologist is an integral part of the Cath lab team. Our Cardiovascular Techs are responsible for many duties, including medical imaging responsibilities, scrubbing, circulating and monitoring during the procedure.

Shift: Full-Time: 3 12-hour shifts; 0630 - 1700
Call: No call requirement.

Located next to Banner Baywood Medical Center in east Mesa, Arizona, Banner Heart Hospital specializes in providing the most advanced cardiovascular care in an environment of clinical excellence, compassion and healing. We have the most advanced technology in the state of Arizona, with innovative and cutting-edge technologies. With 111 beds, we are one of the largest freestanding heart hospitals in the nation. We have also been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals for cardiovascular care by Thomson-Reuters. Our facility includes a 28 bed cardiovascular intensive care unit that specializes in the recovery of surgical patients, cardiogenic shock, and CRRT. Our 60 bed Cardiac Progressive Care Unit specializes in fast-paced procedural recovery and our 23 bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit specializes in surgical recovery. Our space also includes two endovascular suites, six OR suites, six cardiac Cath labs, and three electrophysiology labs.
Position Summary
This position facilitates services and provides clinical support within the department. Performs prescribed procedures as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to organize and provide care appropriate to patient population.
CORE FUNCTIONS

Assumes responsibility for direct patient care as necessary. Provides or facilitates patient care for patient populations and serves as a resource to staff for clinical support. Promotes interdisciplinary patient care planning and patient education.

Supports department needs and is the primary resource for equipment education and provides user (physician, nursing, other allied health staff, families) education on medical equipment within the department and specific EP program needs when applicable. Collaborates with various departments, outside vendors, and other departments to assure adequate resources and the proper coordination of safe, efficient patient care.

Serves as resource to patients, families, providers and staff in providing care by facilitating patient flow. Assists in the interpretation of department/facility/system policies within the clinical setting. Provides safe and cost-effective care while considering patient satisfaction and customer service.

Performs scheduled/preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and quality assurance on patient care equipment in a timely manner consistent with regulatory standards. Maintains communication with customers/team regarding the status of equipment repairs. Proactively solves technology issues when appropriate.

Supports change and assists in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of the process improvement and quality management activities of the department/system.

Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to imaging practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Adheres to safety policies. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures.

Demonstrates the principles of aseptic and sterile techniques as well as universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash, places used supplies into case cart for processing and prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.

Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This job profile is utilized at facilities with a moderate acuity Cath Lab that performs complex coronary procedures.
Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program. Requires ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (RT) as required by state law. Licensure and/or certification(s) as required by state regulatory agency, if applicable. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications for ACLS required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required where applicable.
Requires Post primary certification with minimum of 3 years’ Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP), or equivalent experience OR 5 years Cath Lab EP or equivalent experience with 2 years in a moderate acuity/complex coronary environment. Must demonstrate effective communication skills and human relations skills. Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
