Certified Medical Assistant Jobs in Indianapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a certified medical assistant job in Indianapolis?
Focus your search on Indianapolis's largest employment clusters: the IUPUI medical district downtown, the dense clinic networks along the north Meridian corridor, and the fast-growing suburban markets in Carmel, Fishers, and Westfield. Multi-specialty physician groups and urgent care chains hire consistently here. Candidates with a CMA credential from AAMA or RMA from AMT, plus phlebotomy experience, stand out in this competitive market.
Which companies hire certified medical assistants in Indianapolis?
Companies currently hiring certified medical assistants in Indianapolis include The Jane Pauley Community Health Center, Ascension, and Eskenazi Health, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indianapolis's market is anchored by large health systems, federally qualified health centers serving the city's underserved communities, and a growing number of private multi-specialty practices across the metro.
Are there remote certified medical assistant jobs in Indianapolis?
Yes, but they are uncommon since most certified medical assistant duties require in-person patient contact. About 0% of certified medical assistant openings tied to Indianapolis are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which is well below average for office-based roles. The tasks most often handled remotely in Indianapolis include prior authorizations, remote patient monitoring support, and scheduling coordination for telehealth-enabled practices.
How can I get a certified medical assistant job in Indianapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Indianapolis is externship-to-hire: many Ivy Tech Community College graduates land positions at the same clinics where they completed their externships, particularly at federally qualified health centers like Eskenazi Health and community clinics on the east and southeast sides. Entry-level openings at urgent care chains in the suburbs of Carmel and Fishers also tend to be more accessible than hospital-based roles for candidates without prior work history.
