Certified Pharmacy Technician Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified pharmacy technician in Oregon?
You must register with the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy before working as a pharmacy technician in the state. Most employers require or strongly prefer national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or the National Healthcareer Association. Oregon accepts both credentials. A high school diploma or equivalent is the baseline education requirement, though many employers favor candidates who have completed an accredited pharmacy technician training program at an Oregon community college.
Which companies hire certified pharmacy technicians in Oregon?
Employers hiring certified pharmacy technicians in Oregon right now include Walgreens, Amazon, and Walmart, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oregon's large integrated health systems and statewide retail pharmacy networks tend to post the most consistent volume, with openings across inpatient, outpatient, and specialty pharmacy settings.
Which Oregon cities have the most certified pharmacy technician jobs?
The Oregon cities with the most certified pharmacy technician openings are Salem, Albany, and Eugene. Portland drives the largest share of listings as the state's primary population and healthcare hub, home to major hospital systems and retail pharmacy clusters, while Salem and Eugene generate steady demand through their own regional medical centers and community pharmacy networks.
Are there remote certified pharmacy technician jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of certified pharmacy technician openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role typically is. The exceptions tend to be prior authorization support, pharmacy benefit management work, and medication therapy management positions that do not require direct dispensing.
How can I get hired as a certified pharmacy technician in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a pharmacy technician training program at an Oregon community college such as Portland Community College or Lane Community College, followed by registration with the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy. Large employers like Providence and PeaceHealth hire pharmacy technician trainees and often provide on-the-job preparation for national certification. Candidates moving from medical assistant, nursing assistant, or pharmacy clerk roles are strong candidates, and holding a current PTCB exam registration gives an edge even before passing.
Where can I find and apply to certified pharmacy technician jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to certified pharmacy technician jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings from employers actively hiring. Search the listings, find roles that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
