Many community colleges and hospital-affiliated programs across New Jersey offer accredited training, and most hiring facilities require certification before your first day.
How much do certified surgical technologists make in New Jersey?
Certified surgical technologists in New Jersey earn a median of about $77,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,270 for the lowest 10% to over $100,490 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire certified surgical technologists in New Jersey?

The distribution reflects the concentration of major hospital campuses and Level I trauma centers in New Jersey's urban corridors, with suburban markets like Cherry Hill and Morristown generating steady volume because of the large health systems anchored there.
Are there remote certified surgical technologist jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. Certified surgical technology is an entirely hands-on, sterile-field role performed in an operating room, which means nearly all positions require on-site presence. About 0% of certified surgical technologist openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those few exceptions typically involve education, training coordination, or surgical technology program instruction rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a certified surgical technologist in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate or student-to-staff programs at New Jersey's large health systems, including the surgical tech training pipelines run by RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health for candidates who have completed an accredited program but lack independent experience. Lateral moves from surgical technologist assistant or sterile processing technician roles at New Jersey hospitals are also a recognized door into the OR. Holding your NBSTSA certification before applying gives you a clear edge over candidates still pending their exam.
