Clinical Medical Assistant Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical medical assistant in New Jersey?
New Jersey does not require a state-issued license for clinical medical assistants, but most employers require graduation from an accredited medical assistant program and a national certification such as the CMA through the American Association of Medical Assistants or the CCMA through the National Healthcareer Association. Accredited programs are available at community colleges and vocational schools across the state. Many New Jersey employers treat national certification as a condition of hire rather than a preference.
Which companies hire clinical medical assistants in New Jersey?
New Jersey clinical medical assistant roles are posted by Cooper University Healthcare, Remedy, and LOMBARDI and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's concentration of large integrated health systems and independent multispecialty practices means consistent year-round hiring well beyond the largest health networks.
Which New Jersey cities have the most clinical medical assistant jobs?
Cherry Hill, Camden, and Newark have the most clinical medical assistant openings in New Jersey. The northern cities draw the largest volume from the dense outpatient and urgent care infrastructure tied to major systems like RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health, while southern areas see strong hiring driven by proximity to the Philadelphia metro and Atlantic Health System facilities.
Are there remote clinical medical assistant jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, but they're rare. Clinical medical assistant work is hands-on by nature, requiring direct patient contact for rooming, phlebotomy, and procedures, so the vast majority of roles are fully on-site. About 60% of clinical medical assistant openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are almost always limited to administrative or telephonic care coordination duties rather than direct clinical tasks.
How can I get hired as a clinical medical assistant in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a medical assistant program at a New Jersey community college, such as Bergen Community College or Middlesex College, which include externship rotations at local clinics that frequently convert to job offers. Large systems like RWJBarnabas Health and Hackensack Meridian Health post entry-level positions for new graduates. Candidates coming from roles as medical receptionists or patient care technicians often transition successfully. Earning your CCMA or CMA before applying gives a measurable edge over uncertified candidates.
Where can I find and apply to clinical medical assistant jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to clinical medical assistant jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current New Jersey openings from employers hiring now. Search the listings, find roles that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
