About Nooks.ai:
Nooks is an applied AI lab building the Agent Workspace for GTM. We design AI agents that operate across the full sales action set, from account strategy to prospect research and outreach. Building 0 1 has never been easier, but selling at the speed of the market remains the last frontier for AI. Our mission is to 10x every seller by automating the busywork so they can focus on what humans do best: closing deals.
Today, over 1,500 customers run on Nooks, including Notion, HubSpot, Cursor, and Rippling. We’ve raised $70M+ from top VCs like Kleiner Perkins, which made its first sales-tech investment in over a decade with us. Since then, we’ve tripled ARR each year for 3 years running and grown a high-caliber team turning the art of sales into a scalable science.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Chief of Staff who will operate as a true extension of the CEO. This is a rare opportunity to work directly alongside the CEO and gain an inside view into how a high-growth company is built and scaled.
As Chief of Staff, you'll own the hardest problems, help drive the highest-stakes decisions, and serve as a force multiplier across the entire company. You'll work on the initiatives that matter most to the business—whether that's shaping company strategy, improving operational efficiency, driving critical cross-functional projects, or helping the leadership team navigate complex decisions.
You're the person the CEO turns to when a problem is ambiguous, important, and doesn't have a clear owner. You bring structure to chaos, connect dots across the organization, and drive outcomes with urgency and precision.
One day you may be leading a strategic planning process, the next driving a company-wide initiative, evaluating how AI can transform a workflow, preparing for a board meeting, or partnering with leaders across the business to solve a critical challenge. No two weeks will look the same.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic thinking with a bias for action, thrives in ambiguity, and wants a front-row seat to building an iconic company.
What You'll Do
Serve as a trusted partner and thought partner to the CEO on the company's most important priorities.
Own and drive the highest-impact strategic and operational initiatives across the business.
Lead projects that span multiple functions, ensuring alignment, accountability, and execution.
Translate high-level goals into actionable plans, milestones, and measurable outcomes.
Identify organizational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions that improve company performance.
Drive company planning processes, operating rhythms, and executive decision-making.
Prepare executive communications, presentations, board materials, and strategic analyses.
Build and improve operating systems, planning frameworks, and company rituals.
Leverage AI tools and agents to automate workflows, improve productivity, and accelerate decision-making.
Partner with leaders across Engineering, Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to accelerate execution.
Anticipate challenges before they emerge and proactively solve problems before they become issues.
Act as a force multiplier for the CEO, enabling the company to move faster and make better decisions.
You Might Be a Strong Fit If
3–8 years of experience in consulting, business operations, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, startup operations, product management, or a similar strategic role.
Experience operating in a high-growth startup environment and excitement for building in fast-moving environments.
Demonstrated track record of leading complex cross-functional initiatives and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Systems Thinker: You can simplify complexity, identify root causes, and design scalable solutions.
Extreme Ownership: You take initiative, thrive in ambiguity, and consistently drive outcomes without needing direction.
Business Acumen: You have strong judgment, understand business tradeoffs, and can seamlessly move between strategy and execution.
Cross-Functional Leader: You influence effectively across teams, align stakeholders, and drive execution without relying on authority.
AI-Native: You actively leverage AI tools and agents to automate workflows, increase productivity, and improve decision-making.
Exceptional Communicator: You communicate clearly and concisely, turning complex ideas into compelling narratives and actionable plans.
You are energized by tackling difficult, ambiguous problems and are excited to operate wherever the business needs you most.
Why This Role
This role is designed for someone who wants to accelerate their career by working directly with company leadership on the most important challenges facing the business.
Whether you're a current Chief of Staff, an aspiring founder, a former founder, a top operator, or someone from consulting or investing who wants to transition into operating, you'll gain exposure to every part of the company while helping shape its future.
You'll have a front-row seat to company-building, significant ownership from day one, and the opportunity to help define how the company scales over the coming years.

Chief Of Staff Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a chief of staff job in San Francisco?
Target San Francisco's high-growth technology companies, venture capital-backed startups in SoMa and Mission Bay, and large healthcare systems like UCSF Health. Candidates who can move fluidly between strategic planning, cross-functional coordination, and executive communication stand out. Prior experience inside a fast-scaling startup or a large tech organization gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire chief of staffs in San Francisco?
Companies currently hiring chief of staffs in San Francisco include Gorgias, Giga, and Carta, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's employer base skews toward technology companies, growth-stage startups, and major healthcare and financial services institutions, all of which frequently build out chief of staff functions as they scale.
Are there remote chief of staff jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though chief of staff roles are less remote-friendly than purely analytical positions because the job centers on in-person executive support and cross-team coordination. About 31% of chief of staff openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with the most remote-compatible work being research, reporting, and project management tasks rather than day-to-day executive presence.
How can I get a chief of staff job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Francisco is moving laterally from a chief of staff associate, executive business partner, or strategy and operations analyst role inside a local tech company or health system. Growth-stage startups in SoMa and the Financial District often promote from within, and rotational operations programs at larger San Francisco employers like Salesforce or Wells Fargo can build the cross-functional exposure hiring managers look for.
Which industries hire the most chief of staffs in San Francisco?
San Francisco chief of staff roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's density of venture-funded technology companies, large financial services firms, and major academic medical centers creates consistent demand for chiefs of staff who can manage complex, fast-moving executive agendas.
