Marketing Operations Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing operations manager in California?
Most marketing operations managers in California enter the field with a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or communications, then build platform expertise in tools like Marketo, HubSpot, or Salesforce through coordinator or analyst roles. There is no state-issued license required to work in this role in California. Earning certifications from Marketo, Salesforce, or HubSpot strengthens candidacy considerably, as California technology and SaaS employers treat those credentials as practical proof of skill.
How much do marketing operations managers make in California?
Marketing operations managers in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing operations managers in California?
Employers hiring marketing operations managers in California right now include TikTok, OpenAI, and Box, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. California's dense concentration of B2B technology and SaaS companies means demand is especially consistent across the Bay Area and greater Los Angeles, where growth-stage and enterprise firms both recruit regularly for this function.
Which California cities have the most marketing operations manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most marketing operations manager openings in California. The Bay Area leads because of its concentration of enterprise software and SaaS headquarters, while Los Angeles draws demand from a broader mix of media, e-commerce, and direct-to-consumer brands, and San Diego contributes openings from its growing life sciences and cybersecurity technology sectors.
Are there remote marketing operations manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Marketing operations is a desk-based, systems-driven role that translates naturally to remote work. About 61% of marketing operations manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly California technology employers have normalized distributed teams. Campaign management, platform administration, and reporting work are the functions most consistently offered in fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a marketing operations manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a marketing coordinator or marketing analyst role at a California technology or SaaS company, then moving into operations as you build hands-on platform experience. Large California employers including Salesforce, Adobe, and ServiceNow run associate and rotational programs that place newer professionals across marketing functions. Completing a free or low-cost Marketo or HubSpot certification before applying gives candidates a concrete, verifiable edge when competing against others with similar academic backgrounds.
Where can I find and apply to marketing operations manager jobs in California?
