Clinical Data Specialist Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a clinical data specialist job in Washington?
Washington's clinical data specialist market is shaped by its dense cluster of federal health agencies, government contractors, and academic medical centers, so candidates who know regulated trial environments and federal data standards stand out. Targeting contractors in the Rockville and Bethesda corridor, hospital networks in Foggy Bottom, and NIH-affiliated research programs gives you the strongest footing. Hands-on experience with EDC systems and data validation in a GCP-compliant setting is the clearest differentiator here.
Which companies hire clinical data specialists in Washington?
Washington clinical data specialist roles are posted by Booz Allen Hamilton, Meta, and BigBear.ai and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The Washington market skews heavily toward federal health contractors, CROs supporting NIH and FDA-adjacent research, and large academic health systems with active clinical trial programs.
Are there remote clinical data specialist jobs in Washington?
Yes, though availability depends on the role: data review, query management, and coding tasks translate well to remote work, while site-facing or specimen-handling duties remain on-site. About 65% of clinical data specialist openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the analytical nature of much of the work. Contractor roles supporting federal clients in Washington tend to offer the most hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a clinical data specialist job in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Washington is through a clinical research coordinator or data entry associate role at one of the city's many CROs or hospital research departments, particularly those affiliated with Georgetown, GWU, or Howard University Hospital. These positions expose you to EDC platforms and trial workflows without requiring prior specialist experience. A certificate in clinical research or data management and familiarity with systems like Medidata Rave or Oracle InForm will help you compete for entry-level openings against Washington's deep research workforce.
