Clinical Social Worker Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical social worker in Delaware?
To become a clinical social worker in Delaware, you must earn a master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and then obtain licensure through the Delaware Board of Clinical Social Work Examiners. Delaware offers the Licensed Master Social Worker credential for those completing supervised hours and the Licensed Clinical Social Worker designation after additional supervised clinical experience and passing the ASWB Clinical exam. Most Delaware employers require the LCSW before hiring into independent clinical roles.
Which companies hire clinical social workers in Delaware?
Delaware clinical social worker roles are posted by LifeStance Health, Thriveworks, and Presence and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Delaware's integrated health systems and community mental health centers are among the most consistent sources of full-time clinical social worker openings in the state.
Which Delaware cities have the most clinical social worker jobs?
Wilmington, Dover, and Newark have the most clinical social worker openings in Delaware. Wilmington drives the largest share of postings as home to ChristianaCare and Nemours, while Dover's concentration of state government agencies and correctional health services sustains steady demand, and Newark's proximity to the University of Delaware and affiliated outpatient practices adds additional opportunities.
Are there remote clinical social worker jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're a minority of openings. About 94% of clinical social worker openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on, relationship-centered nature of most clinical social work roles. Telehealth therapy positions and care coordination roles that do not require in-person assessment are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements in Delaware.
How can I get hired as a clinical social worker in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for positions as a Licensed Master Social Worker while completing the supervised clinical hours required for full licensure. ChristianaCare and Nemours Children's Health both hire MSW graduates into structured residency and clinical internship pipelines that provide supervised hours toward LCSW eligibility. Roles such as case manager, care coordinator, or behavioral health technician at Delaware community mental health centers are common lateral moves that build clinical hours, and holding an active LMSW from the Delaware Board of Clinical Social Work Examiners significantly strengthens your candidacy.
Where can I find and apply to clinical social worker jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to clinical social worker jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that fit your license level, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that match your experience and goals.
