Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized, dependable, and compassionate North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide clinical assessments, person-centered planning, service orders, and related clinical services for individuals participating in our peer support program.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of North Carolina Medicaid behavioral health requirements, clinical documentation, medical necessity, and recovery-oriented services.
This is a flexible, as-needed position with compensation based on completed, authorized clinical services.
Primary Responsibilities
Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCAs)
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments to identify behavioral health needs, strengths, barriers, and appropriate service recommendations.
- Review relevant mental health, substance use, psychosocial, and treatment history.
- Complete diagnostic evaluations and clinical formulations within the LCSW scope of practice.
- Determine and document medical necessity for recommended services.
- Complete clinically accurate assessments and required documentation in a timely manner.
Person-Centered Plans (PCPs)
- Develop individualized Person-Centered Plans based on assessed needs and recovery goals.
- Establish measurable goals, objectives, and appropriate service interventions.
- Complete PCP reviews, updates, and revisions as clinically indicated and required.
- Collaborate with individuals, peer support staff, and other appropriate providers.
Clinical Service Orders and Documentation
- Complete and sign clinically appropriate service orders when authorized under applicable requirements.
- Review relevant clinical records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure clinical recommendations are consistent with assessed needs, medical necessity, and applicable service requirements.
- Maintain accurate, timely, confidential records.
- Utilize electronic documentation systems, including SimplePractice when applicable.
Clinical Consultation and Quality Assurance
- Provide clinical consultation within the scope of professional licensure and agreed contractual responsibilities.
- Assist with clinical documentation quality and compliance.
- Collaborate professionally with agency leadership and peer support staff.
- Follow applicable North Carolina Medicaid, managed care organization, HIPAA, and professional licensing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in North Carolina.
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
- Experience completing Comprehensive Clinical Assessments.
- Experience developing and updating Person-Centered Plans.
- Knowledge of behavioral health diagnosis, assessment, and medical necessity.
- Excellent clinical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to meet agreed documentation deadlines.
- Strong professionalism, ethical judgment, confidentiality, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with North Carolina Medicaid beneficiaries.
- Knowledge of Medicaid Peer Support Services.
- Familiarity with Healthy Blue, AmeriHealth Caritas, Carolina Complete Health, Trillium, and other managed care organizations.
- Experience completing service orders and documentation for community-based behavioral health services.
- Experience using SimplePractice or similar electronic health record systems.
- Previous experience working with behavioral health or peer support agencies.
Compensation and Schedule
This position is structured as a flexible, as-needed clinical services opportunity.
Proposed per-service compensation:
- Comprehensive Clinical Assessment (CCA): $125 per completed assessment.
- Initial Person-Centered Plan (PCP): $50 per completed plan.
- PCP Update or Revision: $40 per completed update.
- Other authorized clinical services: Negotiable based on scope and requirements.
Payment terms, documentation standards, deliverables, and responsibilities will be established in a written agreement.
The volume of referrals and assignments may vary. No minimum number of weekly hours or assignments is guaranteed.
Final contractual arrangements will be subject to applicable employment classification requirements.
