Position Summary
The Commissioning Engineer and Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for managing and leading the verification and validation of critical infrastructure systems within specialized facilities, including clean rooms, compounding pharmacies, and BSL3 labs. This role ensures that all systems perform precisely as designed and meet stringent operational and regulatory standards, bridging the gap between design, construction, and operations.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, review, and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for mechanical, electrical, and control systems. Prepare commissioning checklists and associated documents.
- Oversee and conduct on-site inspections, pre-functional checks, functional performance testing (FPT), and integrated systems testing.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex system deficiencies and performance issues in collaboration with design engineers, contractors, and vendors.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison, coordinating activities between design, construction, operations teams, and third-party vendors to ensure a seamless commissioning process.
- Ensure all commissioning activities and documentation adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of all test results, observations, and resolutions; prepare detailed commissioning reports for key stakeholders.
- Provide technical support and comprehensive training to facility operations and maintenance personnel for newly commissioned systems.
- Promote and ensure compliance with all on-site safety protocols and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in commissioning, start-up, or operations of complex mechanical and electrical systems, preferably within critical environments (e.g., labs, clean rooms, data centers, hospitals, industrial plants).
- Strong understanding of critical facility infrastructure.
- Familiarity with testing equipment and data acquisition tools.
- Experience with commissioning software platforms (e.g., CxAlloy, Facility Grid).

Salary Range
$84,200.00 - $148,500.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
