Verify your credentials before applying
Most nursing roles at Adventist HealthCare require active RN licensure in Maryland or the District of Columbia, plus BLS certification. Get your NCLEX-RN results and state license in order before you submit an application, since credential gaps stall offers fast.
Target roles that match your specialty
Adventist HealthCare's hiring spans acute care, oncology, labor and delivery, and behavioral health. Applying to units that match your clinical background improves your chances of sponsorship, since specialty nurses are harder for employers to source domestically and sponsorship becomes easier to justify.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions
Adventist HealthCare posts nursing roles across multiple facilities. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions at this employer that have active visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on listings that won't support your work authorization.
Understand TN eligibility for Canadian and Mexican nurses
If you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship, TN status covers registered nurses under USMCA. This is a faster path than H-1B and doesn't require lottery selection. Confirm your role qualifies under the nurse TN category before accepting an offer letter.
Ask HR about LCA timing before your OPT expires
Adventist HealthCare must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition can go to USCIS. If you're on F-1 OPT with an approaching expiration, raise this timeline with HR early so there's enough runway to file without a gap in your work authorization.
Clarify cap-exempt status during negotiations
Hospitals affiliated with nonprofit or government research functions may qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers, allowing year-round filing without waiting for the annual lottery. Ask Adventist HealthCare's HR team directly whether your specific facility qualifies before assuming standard H-1B lottery timelines apply.

Find Nursing at Adventist HealthCare JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Adventist HealthCare sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing roles?
Yes, Adventist HealthCare sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying nursing positions. Sponsorship is tied to specific roles and facilities, so not every open listing will come with an H-1B offer. Your best approach is to confirm sponsorship availability directly with the hiring team when you reach the offer stage, and to clarify whether the facility qualifies as cap-exempt.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Adventist HealthCare?
Applications go through Adventist HealthCare's careers portal, where you can search by unit, facility, and job type. Migrate Mate also lists open nursing roles at Adventist HealthCare filtered by visa sponsorship status, which helps you identify relevant positions faster. Have your RN license, BLS certification, and a U.S.-formatted resume ready before you apply.
Which visa types does Adventist HealthCare commonly use for Nursing positions?
Adventist HealthCare sponsors H-1B visas for nursing roles and also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still in degree or postgraduate training programs. Canadian and Mexican nurses may be eligible for TN status under USMCA, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. The right visa type depends on your citizenship, current status, and the specific role.
What qualifications does Adventist HealthCare expect for sponsored Nursing roles?
Most sponsored nursing positions require an active RN license in Maryland or DC, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred for many acute care roles, and current BLS certification is non-negotiable. Specialty units such as oncology, ICU, and labor and delivery typically expect at least one to two years of clinical experience in that specific area.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take for nurses at Adventist HealthCare?
The full process from offer acceptance to approved H-1B status typically spans several months. DOL must certify the Labor Condition Application first, which takes seven to ten business days under standard processing. The H-1B petition then goes to USCIS, where standard processing runs three to five months. If you need faster approval, ask whether the employer will cover premium processing, which USCIS adjudicates within 15 business days.
