Align your background to embedded or industrial software
AMETEK builds instruments, sensors, and electronic systems, so Software Engineer candidates who highlight experience with embedded C, real-time systems, or hardware-software integration stand out more than general web or app developers.
Research which AMETEK division is hiring
AMETEK operates through dozens of business units, including Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group. Each posts its own Software Engineer openings with different technical stacks and hiring timelines, so targeting the right division matters more than applying broadly.
Confirm sponsorship intent before your first interview
Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific division and role are approved for visa sponsorship. AMETEK's sponsorship decisions can vary by business unit, and getting clarity early saves you from investing in a process that stalls at the offer stage.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS's annual cap registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Make sure your AMETEK offer and I-129 petition are filed well before that window, because missing it means waiting a full year for the next lottery cycle.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
AMETEK's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before you reach the offer stage, not after.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsorship-open roles
Many AMETEK Software Engineer postings don't explicitly state sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to browse and filter AMETEK's open roles by visa type, so you spend your time on positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from the job description.

Find Software Engineer at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, AMETEK does sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers, though availability depends on the specific business unit and role. AMETEK operates through many distinct divisions, and sponsorship decisions are often made at the division level. Candidates should confirm sponsorship intent directly with the recruiting team for the specific position they're applying to, before the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Software Engineer roles at AMETEK?
AMETEK has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for technical roles. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering Software Engineer positions, while H-1B is the standard long-term work visa for those past their OPT period. TN is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations under USMCA.
What qualifications are expected for Software Engineer roles at AMETEK?
Most AMETEK Software Engineer positions require a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. Given AMETEK's focus on precision instruments and electronic systems, experience with embedded software, real-time operating systems, firmware, or hardware-facing development is frequently valued over general full-stack or web engineering backgrounds.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at AMETEK?
You can find and apply for Software Engineer positions at AMETEK through Migrate Mate, which aggregates AMETEK's open roles and filters them by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your work authorization situation. Applications go directly to AMETEK's recruiting team, and you should confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at AMETEK?
If you're on F-1 OPT, you have up to 12 months of work authorization after graduation, with a possible 24-month STEM OPT extension if your degree qualifies. USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for an October 1 start date. To stay on track, you'd need an offer and a filed petition before that March window, giving you a clear planning horizon from your graduation or OPT start date.
