Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Service Technician Jobs at AMETEK Jobs
Tailor Your Resume to Field Service Expectations
AMETEK's Service Technician roles emphasize equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and customer-site troubleshooting. Highlight hands-on experience with electronic test and measurement systems, and list any OEM certifications or instrumentation training that maps directly to their product lines.
Verify Your Credentials Meet Specialty Occupation Standards
For H-1B eligibility, USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Gather documentation showing your degree directly relates to electronics, electromechanical systems, or instrumentation engineering before applying, since AMETEK's technical roles often require this paper trail at petition stage.
Target AMETEK's Distributed Service Center Locations
AMETEK operates service centers and field offices across multiple states. Search by location when browsing open roles, because a technician position tied to a regional service hub may have a faster internal hiring cycle than roles posted at corporate headquarters.
Browse Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
AMETEK regularly posts Service Technician openings across its business units. Use Migrate Mate to filter AMETEK's active listings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're only applying to roles where sponsorship is on the table from the start.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope Before Accepting an Offer
Before signing an offer letter, confirm in writing whether AMETEK will cover H-1B filing fees, premium processing, and attorney costs. Some business units handle sponsorship differently, and getting clarity upfront prevents delays once the DOL Labor Condition Application process begins.
Time Your Application Around OPT and Grace Period Windows
If you're on F-1 OPT, your 60-day grace period after employment ends is not work-authorized. Coordinate your AMETEK start date so your OPT authorization covers your first day, and confirm whether AMETEK has filed for your H-1B before your OPT expiration.

Find Service Technician at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Service Technicians?
Yes, AMETEK sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying technical roles, including Service Technician positions. Sponsorship is typically available when the role meets USCIS specialty occupation requirements, meaning your degree must relate directly to the technical discipline the job demands. Not every posting will include sponsorship, so confirm with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Service Technician jobs at AMETEK?
You can browse and apply for AMETEK's Service Technician openings directly through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Applications typically require a resume, and shortlisted candidates can expect a technical screening followed by one or more interviews focused on instrumentation knowledge, troubleshooting methodology, and prior field service experience.
Which visa types does AMETEK commonly use for Service Technician roles?
AMETEK sponsors several visa categories for Service Technician positions, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1. H-1B is the most common pathway for full-time employment. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or technical occupations. OPT and CPT are typically used for recent graduates during or immediately after their degree programs.
What qualifications does AMETEK expect for Service Technician positions?
AMETEK generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering, electrical engineering technology, or a closely related field, combined with hands-on experience servicing precision instruments or electromechanical equipment. Familiarity with AMETEK product lines, calibration procedures, and field diagnostics strengthens your application considerably. Some roles may accept an associate degree paired with substantial relevant work experience.
How do I understand the H-1B timeline if I get an offer from AMETEK?
The H-1B process involves several sequential steps: AMETEK's legal team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which is typically certified within seven business days, followed by the USCIS petition. The standard annual H-1B cap opens in March with an October 1 start date. If your registration is not selected in the lottery, AMETEK may explore cap-exempt filing options or bridge your status through OPT or another visa category.
