Align Your Degree to AMETEK's Disciplines
AMETEK hires across electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering functions tied to specific product lines. Before applying, confirm your degree field directly maps to the role's specialty occupation requirement, since a misaligned degree can complicate H-1B petition approval even with relevant work experience.
Target Business Units with Active Openings
AMETEK operates dozens of distinct business units under its Electronic Instruments and Electromechanical segments. Filtering open Engineering roles by division helps you identify which units are actively hiring, so your application lands where headcount and sponsorship budget are already approved.
Search AMETEK Engineering Roles on Migrate Mate
Filtering by visa type before you apply saves time. Use Migrate Mate to browse AMETEK's current Engineering openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility, so you're only pursuing roles where your visa type has a documented path.
Ask About LCA Timing Before Accepting an Offer
For H-1B transfers or new petitions, your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your petition. Confirm this step is already in motion when you receive an offer, since LCA certification adds time before your start date.
Prepare a Portfolio Tied to AMETEK's Product Lines
AMETEK engineering interviews often go deep on instrumentation, power systems, or sensor technology depending on the division. Bringing documented project work, schematics, or testing experience directly relevant to their product categories strengthens both your candidacy and the specialty occupation evidence in your visa petition.
Use OPT Early to Build Internal Sponsorship Momentum
If you're on F-1 OPT, starting at AMETEK gives you up to 12 months (36 with a STEM extension) to demonstrate value before the H-1B cap season opens. Engineers who've already delivered results internally are significantly more likely to receive employer support through the lottery.

Find Engineering at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, AMETEK sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Sponsorship is typically tied to specific business units and approved headcount, so availability varies by division and location. Roles in electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering that require a directly related degree are the most straightforward fit for H-1B specialty occupation classification under USCIS guidelines.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at AMETEK?
Apply directly through AMETEK's careers portal, where roles are listed by business unit and location. Read each job description carefully for sponsorship language, since not every posting explicitly states visa support. Migrate Mate is a practical starting point for filtering AMETEK's Engineering openings by the visa types you hold or are seeking.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering roles at AMETEK?
AMETEK has sponsored H-1B visas for Engineering hires and also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates, TN visa holders from Canada and Mexico, and J-1 participants. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican engineers in qualifying occupations like electrical or mechanical engineering, and it doesn't require going through the H-1B lottery.
What qualifications does AMETEK expect for sponsored Engineering positions?
Most sponsored Engineering roles at AMETEK require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as electrical, mechanical, systems, or computer engineering. Hands-on experience with instrumentation, embedded systems, power electronics, or electromechanical design is frequently emphasized, reflecting AMETEK's core product segments. Advanced degrees can strengthen both your application and the visa petition's specialty occupation argument.
How do I time my job search if I'm waiting on an H-1B cap decision?
H-1B cap registrations open in March each year, with the lottery typically run shortly after. If selected, your petition can be filed for an October 1 start. Target AMETEK openings in the January through March window so you have an offer in hand when registration opens. Employers typically hold the role while the petition is processed, but confirm this expectation during the offer stage.
