Align your degree to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires that your degree field directly relates to the Engineering role. For TE Connectivity positions, a degree in electrical, mechanical, or materials engineering carries more weight than a general science background when supporting an H-1B specialty occupation determination.
Target product lines matching your technical background
TE Connectivity hires engineers across connectors, sensors, and harsh-environment systems. Applying to product lines where your academic and project experience aligns precisely improves your chances of reaching a hiring manager who can champion your sponsorship case internally.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Engineering roles by visa type
Not every TE Connectivity Engineering posting specifies sponsorship eligibility upfront. Use Migrate Mate to browse roles filtered by the visa types TE Connectivity actively supports, so you spend time on positions where your authorization pathway is already viable.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline before interviews
If you're on F-1 status, know your OPT start date and STEM extension eligibility before your first interview. TE Connectivity's recruiting process for Engineering roles can take several weeks, and hiring teams will ask about your authorization window to assess fit.
Understand how PERM affects your green card timeline
TE Connectivity sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 green cards for Engineering roles, which requires a DOL PERM labor certification. That process typically runs 12 to 18 months before USCIS adjudication, so ask your recruiter early whether the role has been designated for permanent sponsorship.
Document cross-disciplinary hardware experience thoroughly
TE Connectivity's Engineering roles often sit at the intersection of mechanical tolerancing, signal integrity, and manufacturing processes. Collect project documentation, published specifications, or employer letters that demonstrate hands-on work in these overlapping areas before your H-1B petition is prepared.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does TE Connectivity sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, TE Connectivity sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Engineering roles. The company files H-1B petitions for positions that meet USCIS specialty occupation standards, which require a direct relationship between the role's duties and a specific technical degree field such as electrical, mechanical, or materials engineering. Sponsorship is typically tied to a confirmed offer for a specific position.
Which visa types does TE Connectivity commonly use for Engineering roles?
TE Connectivity supports several visa categories for Engineering positions, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican engineers in eligible classification categories, F-1 OPT and CPT for current students, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for engineers pursuing permanent residence. The applicable category depends on your nationality, degree, and career stage.
What qualifications are expected for Engineering roles at TE Connectivity?
Most Engineering positions at TE Connectivity require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline. Roles in connector and sensor product lines frequently involve experience with hardware design, signal integrity, or manufacturing process engineering. Advanced degrees improve candidacy for senior individual contributor and systems engineering roles, and international applicants should confirm their degree is recognized as equivalent by USCIS standards.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at TE Connectivity?
You can search and apply for Engineering roles directly through TE Connectivity's careers portal. For a more targeted search that filters by visa sponsorship type, browse Engineering openings at TE Connectivity through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles based on the visa categories the company has actively supported. Apply early in a hiring cycle when possible, as H-1B-dependent roles require lead time for petition preparation.
How do I plan my timeline if TE Connectivity sponsors my H-1B?
H-1B petitions can be filed up to six months before your intended start date, with the earliest filing window opening in April for an October 1 start. If you're transitioning from OPT, confirm your authorized end date and whether your role qualifies for a STEM extension. Coordinating your offer acceptance and petition preparation with your employer's immigration counsel early prevents gaps in work authorization.
