Job Description:
The Manufacturing and Test Engineer communicates effectively with management and cross-functional stakeholders (daily/weekly) with status updates, resource needs, risks, and challenges to ensure progress across projects, production support, and continuous improvement activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build, test, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical subassemblies, fixtures, and systems to meet performance, cost, quality, and schedule requirements as defined by management and company goals.
- Monitor and improve the efficiency and productivity of production lines and work cells using OpEx/LEAN methods. Maintain accurate technical documentation (work instructions, process sheets, inspection/test records) needed to support safe and repeatable production.

- New product launch management and liaison with engineering/manufacturing/purchasing and sales.
- Design/Build prototypes for NPD to ensure manufacturable design.
- Document work instructions, process sheets, tooling/fixture set-up instructions, and (as applicable) station programs/settings for all product lines supported.
- Simplify work cells with mechanical fixturing, ergonomic assembly aids, and end-of-line verification fixtures (electro-mechanical), ensuring repeatability, safety, and ease of use across product lines.
- Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of fixtures, gages, and test equipment; maintain calibration status, records, and traceability as required.
- Design/redesign operator-station fixtures and verification methods (e.g., mechanical checks, gaging, torque/force verification, leak testing, sensor checks) that confirm parts are acceptable before moving to the next operation, enabling rework/repair and reducing escapes. Incorporate error-proofing (poka-yoke) and appropriate safety features (guards/interlocks) where applicable.
- Document updates – Travelers, Work Instructions, Process Sheets, etc. Validation of the documents to confirm all operators are following them correctly for the products.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in manufacturing engineering and/or mechanical/electro-mechanical assembly, fixturing, and validation/testing environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel) and manufacturing database software.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Manufacturing Jobs at AMETEK Jobs
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
AMETEK's manufacturing roles in electronics and hardware often require a degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering. Confirm your degree field maps directly to the role before applying, because H-1B eligibility hinges on that specific degree-to-job connection.
Target AMETEK's electronic instruments and electromechanical divisions
AMETEK operates distinct business units including Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group. Manufacturing roles in these divisions tend to involve specialized technical skills, which strengthens the specialty occupation argument that supports H-1B sponsorship.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open manufacturing roles by sponsorship history
Not every manufacturing posting at a large employer like AMETEK comes with sponsorship. Browse AMETEK's manufacturing openings on Migrate Mate to identify roles where international candidates have historically moved through the hiring process.
Raise visa status early in recruiter conversations
AMETEK recruiters for manufacturing roles handle high applicant volumes. Bring up your visa type and work authorization timeline in the first screening call so the recruiter can loop in HR before an offer is drafted, avoiding delays at the offer stage.
Understand the DOL prevailing wage requirement before negotiating
For H-1B and TN petitions, AMETEK must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Research the applicable wage level for your manufacturing job title so your salary expectations align with what the company is already required to offer.
Time your application around H-1B cap registration in March
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, AMETEK must register you with USCIS during the March lottery window for an October 1 start. Secure your offer and complete onboarding paperwork well before February so registration deadlines don't delay your start.

Find Manufacturing at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing roles?
Yes, AMETEK sponsors H-1B visas for manufacturing positions, particularly in its Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group divisions where roles in engineering and technical production qualify as specialty occupations. Sponsorship is employer-initiated, so you'll need a confirmed job offer before AMETEK can file a petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How do I apply for Manufacturing jobs at AMETEK?
Applications go through AMETEK's careers portal, where manufacturing roles are listed by business unit and location. You can also browse AMETEK's open manufacturing positions filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. Tailor your resume to the specific division, such as precision instruments or electromechanical devices, and address your visa status directly in your cover materials or early recruiter contact.
Which visa types does AMETEK commonly use for Manufacturing roles?
AMETEK sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying manufacturing positions that meet the specialty occupation standard, typically roles requiring an engineering or technical degree. The company also works with F-1 OPT and CPT candidates during structured training periods, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible engineering classifications, and J-1 visas for internship and exchange programs.
What qualifications does AMETEK expect for sponsored Manufacturing positions?
Most sponsored manufacturing roles at AMETEK require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related engineering field, such as mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering. Hands-on experience with precision components, electronic assemblies, or electromechanical systems strengthens your profile. Roles involving process engineering, quality systems, or production management at the technical level are the most common sponsored categories.
How do I understand the timeline for getting sponsored at AMETEK?
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employment can begin while AMETEK prepares an H-1B petition for the annual April registration window, with an October 1 start date if selected. TN status can be obtained at the border with an offer letter in hand, making it faster for eligible nationals. Build at least three to four months of runway between your offer acceptance and any visa expiration to accommodate DOL Labor Condition Application certification and USCIS filing timelines.
