Tailor your resume to AMETEK's divisions
AMETEK organizes its sales teams around specific business units like Electronic Instruments Group and Electromechanical Group. Align your resume to the division you're targeting, naming relevant product categories or end markets such as aerospace, defense, or industrial automation.
Document technical sales credentials before applying
AMETEK's BD roles require demonstrable expertise in a technical domain, not just sales experience. Pull together evidence of quota attainment, product certifications, or engineering background that directly ties to electronic or precision measurement products before you submit anything.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility during the offer stage
AMETEK sponsors select visa types for this function, but not every hiring manager knows the process. Ask HR directly whether your target role qualifies for sponsorship and confirm which visa category they intend to file under before you negotiate terms.
Understand LCA prevailing wage requirements for your territory
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before an H-1B petition can proceed. Prevailing wage levels vary by location, so a Sales BD role based in a high-cost metro will carry a different wage floor than one in a regional office.
Use OPT strategically to prove value first
If you're on F-1 OPT, AMETEK can bring you on without immediate H-1B filing. Use that window to build pipeline results and internal relationships. When H-1B cap registration opens in March, you'll have a concrete performance case supporting the petition.
Browse sponsored Sales BD roles on Migrate Mate
Filtering by visa type across a large job board wastes time. Use Migrate Mate to surface AMETEK's open Sales Business Development positions that are tagged for sponsorship, so you're applying only where a sponsorship pathway already exists.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
Yes, AMETEK has sponsored H-1B visas for Sales Business Development roles. Sponsorship is not automatic for every open position, so you'll want to confirm directly with the recruiting team when you reach the offer stage. H-1B cap-subject petitions require registration in March, so timing your offer relative to the annual lottery cycle matters for planning your start date.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at AMETEK?
Start by identifying open roles through AMETEK's careers page or a visa-filtered job board like Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions where sponsorship is a known factor. Tailor your application to the specific business unit posting the role, emphasizing technical domain expertise alongside commercial results. After applying, follow up directly with the recruiter to confirm sponsorship availability before investing heavily in the interview process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Sales Business Development roles at AMETEK?
AMETEK has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas for this function. H-1B is the primary long-term work visa for this role type. TN visa is a practical option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT and CPT allow students to gain experience with AMETEK before a full petition is filed.
What qualifications does AMETEK expect for Sales Business Development roles?
AMETEK's BD roles in electronics and hardware typically require a technical bachelor's degree, ideally in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, combined with direct sales or business development experience in an industrial or instrumentation context. Candidates who can speak to specific product verticals, such as test and measurement or precision motion, are positioned more competitively than generalist sales professionals.
How do I plan my timeline around H-1B sponsorship at AMETEK?
H-1B cap registration opens in March each year, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you're on F-1 OPT, your employment authorization bridges the gap, but you need to ensure your OPT doesn't expire before October 1. STEM OPT extension adds 24 months of buffer if your degree qualifies. Align your AMETEK offer and USCIS filing timeline accordingly to avoid any gap in work authorization.
