- Act as a strategic finance partner on high-impact commercial decisions, helping shape deal structures that support growth while balancing margin, risk, and long-term value.
- Develop thoughtful, creative solutions to complex commercial challenges across pricing, payment structures, commercial terms, legal considerations, and product needs, building on the role's existing scope across those areas.
- Influence deal outcomes through strong judgment, financial insight, and effective cross-functional partnership across Sales, Finance, Operations, Accounting, Legal, and Product.
- Use data and business insight to support decision-making, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen how Samsara evaluates and executes complex deals.
- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and communicate clearly on complex issues, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
- Continuously improve deal processes, governance, and operating rhythms to support scale while maintaining a strong experience for both internal stakeholders and customers.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
- Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team.

- A strong interest in using AI and automation to improve how teams work, with experience identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce manual effort.
- Familiarity with AI tools from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Glean, or similar technologies, and a practical mindset for applying them in day-to-day work.
- Familiarity with CRM, CPQ, and CLM tools, as well as downstream systems and reporting environments, Salesforce, and Netsuite.
Total Rewards
At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving. We want owners, not passengers, which is why our rewards are designed to fuel high-impact builders. Our compensation program delivers above-market total compensation through a combination of base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles) in a high-growth public company. We meaningfully differentiate pay for our top performers, who have the opportunity to earn above-market compensation that can outpace the broader market over time.
Beyond compensation, we provide the foundations that enable long-term success: a flexible, employee-led remote model, a professional development stipend, comprehensive health and parental leave plans, and more. If you're ready to build for the long term and own the outcome, your journey starts here.
Flexible Working
At Samsara, we embrace a flexible working model that caters to the diverse needs of our teams. Our offices are open for those who prefer to work in-person and we also support remote work where it aligns with our operational requirements. For certain positions, being close to one of our offices or within a specific geographic area is important to facilitate collaboration, access to resources, or alignment with our service regions. In these cases, the job description will clearly indicate any working location requirements. Our goal is to ensure that all members of our team can contribute effectively, whether they are working on-site, in a hybrid model, or fully remotely. All offers of employment are contingent upon an individual's ability to secure and maintain the legal right to work at the company and in the specified work location, if applicable.

Frame Your Sales Experience Around Hardware Verticals
Samsara's BDR and SDR roles focus on selling IoT hardware and software to fleet and industrial operators. Tailor your resume to show experience or coursework touching physical products, field sales cycles, or operations-heavy industries before you apply.
Verify Your OPT Start Date Before Accepting Offers
F-1 OPT authorization must be active before your first day. If your OPT start date falls after Samsara's proposed onboarding date, negotiate a later start rather than assume the employer will wait without a formal agreement in place.
Clarify H-1B Sponsorship Timing in Early Conversations
Ask your recruiter directly whether the role qualifies for H-1B sponsorship before your final interview round. Sales roles in hardware-adjacent tech can occasionally face specialty occupation scrutiny, so confirming this early prevents late-stage surprises.
Prepare for a Consultative Sales Interview Format
Samsara's hiring process for Sales Business Development typically includes mock cold calls and pipeline scenarios. Research their connected operations platform and practice pitching the ROI of vehicle telematics and safety hardware to operations managers.
Search Samsara's Open Sales Roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Samsara's Sales Business Development openings by visa type so you only apply to roles confirmed for sponsorship. This saves time and avoids advancing through interviews at locations or levels that don't support your visa category.
Account for PERM Timing If Targeting Green Card Sponsorship
EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship requires a PERM labor certification filed with DOL before USCIS can adjudicate your immigrant petition. For sales roles, start that conversation with HR no later than your second year to avoid status gaps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Samsara sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
Yes, Samsara sponsors H-1B visas for Sales Business Development roles. The key qualification is that the position meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which generally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Sales roles at tech hardware companies can require extra documentation from the employer to satisfy that standard, so confirm the specific position qualifies before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at Samsara?
You can browse and apply for Samsara's Sales Business Development openings through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your status. Samsara's hiring process for these roles typically includes a recruiter screen, a mock sales exercise, and interviews with sales leadership. Applying through a visa-aware job board reduces the risk of advancing far in a process that doesn't support your visa category.
Which visa types does Samsara commonly use for Sales Business Development roles?
Samsara supports several visa categories for Sales Business Development hires, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa, as well as employment-based green card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. F-1 OPT is the most common entry point for recent graduates, while H-1B is the primary long-term work authorization path. TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
What qualifications does Samsara expect for Sales Business Development candidates?
Samsara typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated interest in technology sales. For roles targeting fleet, logistics, or industrial customers, familiarity with hardware products or field sales environments is a differentiator. Prior BDR or SDR experience is valued but not always required for entry-level openings. Your ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical buyers matters significantly in interviews.
How do I time my application to Samsara around H-1B filing deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start date. To align, you need an approved job offer before that March window. If you're on OPT, apply to Samsara four to six months before your OPT expiration so there's time to go through hiring and, if selected in the lottery, file the full H-1B petition by the April deadline. STEM OPT extensions give you a longer runway if your degree qualifies.
