Align your credentials to clinical sales requirements
Medtronic's Sales Business Development roles typically require demonstrated experience selling into hospital procurement or clinical settings. Before applying, document specific deal sizes, therapy areas, and customer types from your background to match the specialty language in each job description.
Verify your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
If you're on F-1 OPT and your degree is in a STEM field like biomedical engineering or life sciences, confirm your eligibility for the 24-month extension with your DSO before your first OPT year ends. Medtronic's E-Verify participation is required for this extension to apply.
Target roles tied to specific device franchises
Medtronic's sponsorship activity in this function clusters around high-growth device segments. Filtering open roles by cardiac, neuromodulation, or surgical robotics franchises increases your odds of landing on a team with active headcount and hiring urgency rather than pipeline listings.
Prepare for the H-1B cap timeline before receiving an offer
H-1B registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. If you're job searching in the second half of the year, work backward from that window so Medtronic's recruiters understand your earliest possible start date and can align internal approvals accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Medtronic roles that include visa sponsorship
Not every Medtronic Sales Business Development posting specifies sponsorship eligibility upfront. Migrate Mate filters for confirmed sponsoring employers, so you can focus your applications on listings where international candidates are explicitly welcomed rather than guessing from generic job boards.
Confirm PERM labor certification fits your green card timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 green card paths at employer-sponsored companies like Medtronic require a PERM filing with the DOL before an I-140 petition can move forward. If your priority date matters due to per-country backlogs, raise this with your hiring manager during the offer stage, not after onboarding.

Find Sales Business Development at Medtronic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Medtronic sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
Yes, Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas for Sales Business Development roles. The company participates in E-Verify, which is a requirement for H-1B employment, and has a consistent track record of filing petitions in this function. Roles tied to specialty device franchises, particularly those requiring technical or clinical expertise, are the most common sponsorship candidates.
Which visa types does Medtronic support for Sales Business Development roles?
Medtronic supports several visa categories for Sales Business Development hires, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students still in or recently completing their degree programs. For longer-term immigration, the company also pursues EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL.
What qualifications does Medtronic expect for Sales Business Development roles?
Medtronic typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a business, life sciences, or biomedical field, paired with direct experience in medical device or healthcare sales. Familiarity with hospital procurement cycles, clinical staff engagement, and territory management carries more weight than general sales background alone. Some senior roles also require experience with capital equipment or surgical suite selling environments.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at Medtronic?
Browse open Sales Business Development roles at Medtronic through Migrate Mate, which surfaces listings that include visa sponsorship for international candidates. Once you identify a role, apply directly through Medtronic's career portal. Tailor your application to the specific device franchise and therapeutic area in the posting, and be upfront about your visa status and anticipated start date during the recruiter screening call.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing an H-1B at Medtronic?
H-1B registration opens each March with a lottery selection shortly after, and approved petitions take effect October 1. If you receive an offer from Medtronic outside this window, your start date will depend on when the next cap season opens. Medtronic's legal team handles the I-129 petition filing once an offer is confirmed, but you need to account for USCIS processing time, which currently runs several months for standard filings.
