Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
AMETEK's Business Development roles in electronics and hardware typically require a degree in engineering, applied sciences, or a related technical field. Frame your credentials around the specialty occupation standard before applying, so your profile holds up under H-1B scrutiny.
Target AMETEK's electronic instruments and electromechanical divisions
AMETEK hires Business Development professionals across highly technical segments like precision instruments and power systems. Focusing your application on divisions where your technical background matches the product line strengthens your case for sponsorship and speeds up internal approval.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles by sponsorship history
AMETEK posts Business Development openings across multiple divisions and geographies at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for AMETEK roles that align with visa-sponsored positions, so you're not applying blind to postings with no sponsorship intent.
Confirm the offer letter addresses visa sponsorship explicitly
Before USCIS can process an H-1B petition, the employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL. Ask your AMETEK recruiter to confirm sponsorship is documented in the offer, not just verbally agreed, before you resign from any current role.
Factor the H-1B cap timeline into your start date negotiation
Cap-subject H-1B petitions have an October 1 start date after the April lottery. If you're hired outside the cap-exempt window, negotiate your start date around this cycle so AMETEK's HR team can file within the registration period without rushing.

Find Business Development at AMETEK JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AMETEK sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, AMETEK does sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development roles. Sponsorship is more consistent in technically oriented positions within its electronics and hardware divisions, where the specialty occupation standard is easier to establish. Your degree field and the specific job description both factor into whether the petition qualifies, so alignment between your background and the role requirements matters.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at AMETEK?
You can apply directly through AMETEK's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to browse current Business Development openings filtered by visa sponsorship. AMETEK's Business Development roles are distributed across divisions and locations, so searching by product segment or business unit helps you find the most relevant postings. Tailoring your resume to reflect technical industry knowledge in electronics or hardware improves your chances of clearing the initial screen.
Which visa types does AMETEK commonly use for Business Development hires?
AMETEK most commonly sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development professionals, with F-1 OPT and CPT used as a bridge for recent graduates before an H-1B petition is filed. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. J-1 sponsorship is less common for Business Development but has been used for specific program-eligible candidates.
What qualifications does AMETEK expect for Business Development roles?
AMETEK's Business Development positions in electronics and hardware typically require a bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline, combined with experience in industrial or technical sales. Familiarity with product segments like electronic instruments, precision motion, or power electronics strengthens your application. Roles that interface with defense, aerospace, or industrial automation clients often expect relevant domain knowledge alongside commercial skills.
How do I time my application around the H-1B filing process at AMETEK?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration in March each year, with an October 1 start date for selected petitions. If you're targeting a cap-subject H-1B through AMETEK, you need an offer and a signed petition before the registration window closes. Starting your job search by late fall or early winter gives AMETEK's HR and legal teams enough lead time to prepare your filing without missing the registration deadline.
