How We're Different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

Frame Your AI Fluency in Credentials
Anthropic evaluates business development candidates on how deeply they understand AI systems, not just sales cycles. Document any technical coursework, research collaborations, or certifications that show you can engage credibly with research teams and enterprise AI buyers.
Target Partnerships Teams Over General Listings
Anthropic's business development function focuses heavily on model API partnerships and research commercialization. Filter your outreach toward roles tied to enterprise or research partnerships rather than applying broadly across the company's open positions.
Clarify Your Visa Category Before Accepting an Offer
Anthropic sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas. Australians on E-3 and Singaporeans on H-1B1 avoid the H-1B lottery entirely, which shortens time to start date significantly. Confirm which category applies to your nationality before signing anything.
Align Your Degree to a Specialty Occupation
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to establish that your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. For business development at an AI company, a degree in computer science, economics, or a related technical field strengthens the petition more than a general business degree.
Build a Portfolio of AI Partnership Case Studies
Anthropic's hiring process for this function often assesses how candidates have structured complex, long-cycle deals in emerging technology sectors. Prepare documented examples of partnership structures, co-development agreements, or enterprise pilots you've led or supported.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Sponsor-Confirmed Openings
Not every business development listing at Anthropic is clearly marked as visa-sponsored. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsorship roles at Anthropic so you're applying to positions where your visa category is already confirmed, not guessing from the job description.

Find New Business Development at Anthropic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Anthropic sponsor H-1B visas for New Business Developments?
Yes, Anthropic sponsors H-1B visas for New Business Development roles. The H-1B requires your position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which Anthropic's business development function typically supports given its technical and research-facing nature. Your employer files the petition with USCIS, and cap-subject applicants must clear the annual lottery before the petition is processed.
Which visa types does Anthropic use for New Business Development roles?
Anthropic sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for this function. H-1B is the most common and applies to most nationalities. Australian citizens qualify for the E-3, which has a separate allocation and no lottery. Singaporean and Chilean nationals may qualify for the H-1B1, which also bypasses the lottery. Your nationality determines which path is available to you.
How do I apply for New Business Development jobs at Anthropic?
Applications go through Anthropic's careers page. The process typically includes an initial screen, a take-home or structured case exercise focused on AI partnership scenarios, and several rounds of interviews with both business and technical stakeholders. Tailoring your application to show familiarity with foundation model commercialization and enterprise AI adoption will differentiate you from generalist candidates.
What qualifications does Anthropic look for in New Business Development candidates?
Anthropic prioritizes candidates who combine deal-making experience with genuine technical depth in AI. A background in enterprise software, research partnerships, or API-driven product distribution is valued. For visa sponsorship purposes, a bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to the role strengthens the H-1B specialty occupation case. Experience navigating complex, multi-stakeholder deals in science or technology sectors is a consistent signal in this function.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a New Business Development role at Anthropic?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and H-1B1 holders can often start within weeks of an offer, since neither requires lottery selection. For H-1B, USCIS standard processing runs several months after an October 1 start date, with premium processing available to reduce adjudication to 15 business days. Plan your offer negotiation and start date around these windows. Migrate Mate lists verified sponsorship roles so you can apply to positions where the process is already established.
