Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding New Business Development Jobs at Fitch Ratings Jobs
Frame your credentials around credit market expertise
Fitch evaluates New Business Development candidates on their ability to speak credibly about ratings methodology and fixed income products. Before applying, align your resume and portfolio to show direct experience with institutional clients, structured finance, or sovereign credit sectors.
Target Fitch's sector-aligned business development teams
Fitch structures its commercial functions by asset class, including corporates, structured finance, and financial institutions. Applying to the team that matches your sector background significantly strengthens your fit and makes sponsorship conversations more straightforward with hiring managers.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
E-3 holders should flag their status early since Fitch sponsors both H-1B and E-3 for this function. Australian nationals can avoid H-1B lottery uncertainty entirely by confirming E-3 eligibility with the recruiter before an offer is formally extended.
Understand the PERM timeline if targeting permanent residency
If your goal is a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, PERM labor certification can take 12 to 18 months or longer. Raise this with Fitch's immigration counsel early so your nonimmigrant status has enough runway while the process runs concurrently.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles by visa type
Fitch posts New Business Development openings across multiple business units, and not all listings surface together. Migrate Mate lets you filter Fitch's active roles by the visa categories they sponsor, so you can prioritize positions most relevant to your immigration situation.
Align your OPT or CPT start date with Fitch's hiring cycle
F-1 students on OPT have a 60-day grace period after employment ends, and Fitch's New Business Development hiring tends to follow fiscal-year planning cycles. Timing your applications to Q4 and Q1 reduces the risk of your work authorization lapsing before an offer is finalized.

Find New Business Development at Fitch Ratings JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for New Business Developments?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for New Business Development roles. The company has a consistent track record of supporting international hires in its commercial and client-facing functions. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, timing your application with Fitch's annual recruiting cycle matters, since USCIS typically opens the registration window in March for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for New Business Development jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch's careers portal, where roles are listed by business unit and geography. You can also find and filter Fitch's open New Business Development positions on Migrate Mate, which organizes listings by the visa types the company sponsors. Tailoring your application to a specific sector team, such as structured finance or financial institutions, gives you a stronger profile than applying broadly.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly sponsor for New Business Development roles?
Fitch sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for New Business Development positions, along with EB-2 and EB-3 for permanent residency pathways. Australian nationals are well-positioned to use the E-3, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. TN status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, which can include financial analysts and certain business roles.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for New Business Development roles?
Fitch typically looks for candidates with a background in finance, economics, or a related field, combined with experience in institutional sales, credit markets, or client relationship management. Familiarity with how credit ratings are applied in fixed income markets is a strong differentiator. For H-1B or E-3 eligibility, the role generally needs to qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
How do I think about the sponsorship process timeline when joining Fitch in a New Business Development role?
For H-1B transfers from another employer, Fitch can file a portability petition that lets you start work as soon as USCIS receives it, without waiting for approval. For new H-1B filings subject to the cap, expect a gap between the lottery in March and the October 1 start date. E-3 and TN petitions move faster, often resolving at the consulate within a few weeks of your offer being finalized.
