Frame your credentials around specialty occupation criteria
KPMG's immigration team must demonstrate your role qualifies as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes. A business development title alone can raise USCIS scrutiny, so position your degree and experience around specific advisory or consulting functions, not general sales.
Target KPMG's industry-aligned business development teams
KPMG organizes business development hiring around specific service lines like Deal Advisory, Tax, and Audit. Applying to a line that matches your industry background makes sponsorship justification straightforward and strengthens your specialty occupation argument from the start.
Verify KPMG's E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
KPMG participates in E-Verify, which is required for H-1B cap-exempt filings and OPT STEM extensions. Confirming this early lets you plan your work authorization bridge accurately, especially if you're transitioning off F-1 OPT before your first H-1B filing window.
Negotiate your start date around the H-1B cap timeline
H-1B cap registrations open in March for an October 1 start. If you receive a KPMG offer outside that window, ask HR about a delayed start or whether your role qualifies for cap-exempt filing through a university-affiliated KPMG entity.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open KPMG roles by visa type
KPMG posts New Business Development roles across multiple offices, but not all locations sponsor equally. Search Migrate Mate to filter active KPMG postings by H-1B or E-3 sponsorship so you apply only to positions where your visa category is supported.
Prepare a client portfolio that reflects billable relationship outcomes
KPMG's interview process for business development roles emphasizes pipeline ownership and revenue outcomes, not just activity metrics. Quantify the client relationships you've built and the engagements that resulted, since this directly supports the specialty occupation documentation your sponsor will file.

Find New Business Development at KPMG JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for New Business Development roles?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for New Business Development positions, though approval depends on the role meeting USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Business development titles can attract additional scrutiny, so KPMG's immigration counsel typically documents the degree requirement and specialized nature of the advisory or consulting function the role supports.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly use for New Business Development positions?
KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for most international hires in this function, and E-3 visas for Australian citizens, which offer a simpler process with no lottery. For longer-term employment pathways, KPMG also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, typically initiated after a candidate has established a track record in the role.
How do I apply for New Business Development jobs at KPMG?
Applications go through KPMG's careers portal, where roles are listed by service line and office location. To find positions where visa sponsorship is confirmed upfront, browse active KPMG New Business Development listings on Migrate Mate, which filters jobs by sponsorship type so you can target roles that match your visa category before applying.
What qualifications and experience does KPMG expect for New Business Development roles?
KPMG typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field, combined with experience in professional services, client acquisition, or strategic partnerships. Familiarity with accounting, audit, or advisory service lines is a strong advantage, as most business development roles are aligned to a specific practice and require industry fluency.
How do I plan my timeline if KPMG offers me a New Business Development role requiring H-1B sponsorship?
If your offer arrives before March, KPMG can submit your H-1B registration in the annual lottery for an October 1 start date. If selected, your petition is filed by June and USCIS typically processes standard filings within three to five months. Candidates on OPT should confirm their expiration date and discuss a start date that allows for cap-gap coverage if needed.
