Target KPMG's Campus Recruiting Pipeline
KPMG fills most Tax Associate roles through on-campus recruiting at target universities. Applying through a school's career portal during fall recruiting season puts you in the same pipeline that KPMG's immigration team already has processes built around.
Align Your CPA Progress Before Interviewing
KPMG expects Tax Associate candidates to be actively pursuing CPA licensure. Having your Notice to Schedule or exam sections completed signals you meet the 150-credit threshold most states require, which also affects your visa petition's educational credential review.
Clarify Your Visa Type Early in Conversations
If you're an Australian citizen, raise E-3 eligibility before an offer is extended. KPMG's immigration team can process an E-3 faster than an H-1B cap-subject petition, and flagging this early prevents unnecessary delays in your start date.
Understand KPMG's H-1B Lottery Timing Constraints
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you graduate in May, you'll likely need OPT authorization to bridge the gap. Confirm with your hiring contact that your anticipated start date aligns with USCIS's H-1B cap cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to Track KPMG Tax Associate Openings
KPMG posts Tax Associate roles across multiple office locations and service lines, making it hard to track openings that include sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for KPMG Tax Associate positions that support visa sponsorship across all active locations.
Prepare Your Credential Evaluation Before Offer Stage
If your accounting degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before your offer. KPMG's immigration counsel will need it to confirm degree equivalency when preparing your H-1B or E-3 petition documents.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for Tax Associates?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for Tax Associate roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, your petition must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. KPMG's dedicated immigration team manages this process, but your offer timing needs to align with the USCIS H-1B registration window, typically open in March.
How do I apply for Tax Associate jobs at KPMG?
Most Tax Associate positions at KPMG are filled through campus recruiting, so applying through your university's career center during fall or spring recruiting cycles is the most direct path. You can also apply through KPMG's careers portal directly. Migrate Mate lists active KPMG Tax Associate openings filtered for visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify the right postings without sorting through roles that don't support international candidates.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly use for Tax Associate roles?
KPMG sponsors H-1B, E-3, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Tax Associates. Australian citizens are strong candidates for the E-3, which has no lottery and can be processed faster than a cap-subject H-1B. For longer-term employees, KPMG typically initiates PERM labor certification to support Green Card sponsorship after a period of employment.
What qualifications does KPMG expect for Tax Associate candidates needing sponsorship?
KPMG requires a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, or taxation, and expects candidates to be pursuing CPA licensure. Most states require 150 credit hours for CPA eligibility, so a master's degree is common among hires. For visa petition purposes, your degree must establish a direct connection to the specialty occupation, so an accounting-specific credential carries more weight than a general business degree.
How do I navigate the timeline between a KPMG offer and my visa start date?
If you're on OPT when you receive an offer, confirm your OPT expiration date against KPMG's proposed start date. If your OPT runs out before October 1 and you need an H-1B, you'll need STEM OPT extension eligibility or a cap-gap to bridge the gap legally. KPMG's immigration counsel will guide the filing, but you should flag your OPT end date to your recruiter immediately after accepting an offer to avoid last-minute complications.
