Frame your degree around specialty occupation standards
KPMG's BD roles require a directly related bachelor's degree to satisfy H-1B specialty occupation criteria. A degree in business, marketing, or finance maps cleanly. A general studies or unrelated degree creates USCIS scrutiny, so document any coursework overlap before applying.
Target KPMG's advisory and deal teams specifically
Business development hiring at KPMG concentrates in its deal advisory, transactions, and market development functions. These teams carry more defined scope and clearer specialty occupation arguments than generalist BD roles, which strengthens your visa petition from the start.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified KPMG BD openings
Not every Business Development Associate listing at KPMG is open to sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type so you're only spending time on positions where H-1B or E-3 sponsorship is confirmed.
Ask about LCA filing during the offer stage
Before countersigning an offer, confirm KPMG's recruiting team has initiated the Labor Condition Application with DOL. The LCA must be certified before USCIS can adjudicate your I-129, and delays here push your start date, not the offer date.
Australian nationals should raise E-3 eligibility early
If you hold Australian citizenship, flag E-3 sponsorship interest during the recruiter screen, not after an offer. KPMG sponsors E-3 visas for professional roles, and aligning on visa type early prevents the firm defaulting to an H-1B timeline you don't need.
Build a client-facing portfolio before KPMG interviews
KPMG BD interviews in accounting and advisory services assess pipeline management and proposal writing experience. Prepare documented examples of RFP contributions, client prospecting, or revenue-generating projects. Concrete outputs signal readiness for the role faster than credentials alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does KPMG sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Associates?
Yes, KPMG sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Associate roles. The firm has an established immigration program and works with outside counsel to file petitions for qualifying candidates. Sponsorship is most consistent in advisory and transactions-focused BD functions where the specialty occupation argument is well-defined and the degree requirement is explicit in the job description.
Which visa types does KPMG commonly sponsor for Business Development Associates?
KPMG sponsors H-1B and E-3 visas for Business Development Associates, along with Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for long-tenured employees. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than H-1B. The right visa type depends on your nationality, current status, and the specific BD team you're joining.
How do I apply for Business Development Associate jobs at KPMG?
Applications go through KPMG's careers portal, where BD roles are listed by service line and location. To find openings that include visa sponsorship, browse Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified KPMG positions filterable by visa type. Tailor your resume to the specific advisory or market development function you're targeting, since BD hiring at KPMG is decentralized across practice groups.
What qualifications does KPMG expect for Business Development Associate candidates?
KPMG typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or a closely related field for BD associate roles. Practical experience with proposal writing, client relationship management, or pipeline tracking is valued alongside the degree. In the accounting and professional services context, familiarity with RFP processes or experience supporting sales cycles in a B2B environment strengthens your application.
How do I plan my timeline if KPMG is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with the registration window opening in March for an October 1 start date. If you're selected in the lottery, USCIS has up to six months to adjudicate. Plan your job search to align with this cycle, and ask KPMG's HR team whether premium processing is available for your petition, which shortens adjudication to 15 business days.
