Job Roles at Baker McKenzie Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Baker McKenzie Visa Sponsorship USA
Target attorney and legal professional roles first
Baker McKenzie's sponsorship activity is concentrated in legal roles, attorneys, associates, and legal specialists. If you're a law graduate or practicing attorney, these positions represent your strongest path to visa sponsorship at the firm.
Understand which visa fits your background
Baker McKenzie sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and Green Card pathways. Australian attorneys should specifically ask about E-3 eligibility, while Canadian and Mexican lawyers may qualify under TN. Knowing your category before applying puts you ahead of other candidates.
Apply well before H-1B lottery season
Baker McKenzie participates in the H-1B cap process, which has a hard April deadline. Legal hiring timelines are long, start outreach in the fall for the following spring lottery cycle to give yourself enough lead time.
Highlight bar admission and jurisdiction carefully
For attorney roles, bar admission requirements vary by office. Confirm whether the specific Baker McKenzie office you're targeting requires local bar admission before or after hiring, this directly affects your sponsorship timeline and visa category eligibility.
Business services roles can also lead to sponsorship
Baker McKenzie sponsors staff beyond attorneys, including roles in finance, HR, and technology. If you work in legal operations or professional services, these departments have a track record of sponsoring qualified candidates through H-1B and other categories.

Does Baker McKenzie sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Baker McKenzie sponsors H-1B visas. The firm has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for qualifying roles, primarily attorneys and legal professionals, though business services positions have also received sponsorship. Because Baker McKenzie is subject to the H-1B lottery cap, timing your application to align with the annual registration window in March is essential.
Which visa types does Baker McKenzie sponsor?
Baker McKenzie sponsors a range of visa categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, J-1, and Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. The right visa depends on your nationality, role, and degree. Australian attorneys are well-positioned to pursue the E-3, while Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying legal roles may be eligible for TN status.
Which roles at Baker McKenzie are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Attorney and associate positions account for the majority of Baker McKenzie's sponsorship activity, reflecting the firm's core business. Roles in legal operations, compliance, finance, and technology have also received sponsorship, though less frequently. Positions requiring specialized legal expertise or advanced degrees in a relevant field tend to have the strongest sponsorship case under the specialty occupation standard.
How do I time my application to Baker McKenzie if I need H-1B sponsorship?
Start your outreach in the fall for roles beginning the following October. Baker McKenzie participates in the annual H-1B lottery, which requires employer registration in March. Law firm hiring cycles move slowly, so connecting with their recruiting team several months before the registration window gives you a realistic shot at being included in that year's filing.
How do I find open roles at Baker McKenzie that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by verified sponsorship history, so you can identify Baker McKenzie openings where sponsorship is a documented reality rather than a possibility. This is especially useful when targeting a large firm with many offices and practice areas, since sponsorship willingness can vary across departments and locations.
