Credential Your Medical Physics Qualifications Early
CAMPEP accreditation and ABR board certification carry significant weight for clinical physics roles at health systems like Baptist Health. Get your credentials evaluated and documented before applying, since credentialing gaps can delay offer letters and USCIS filing timelines.
Target Roles Aligned with Your Visa Category
Baptist Health sponsors H-1B, TN, and employment-based Green Card pathways, so match your application to roles where your visa type fits naturally. TN is faster for Canadian and Mexican physicists; H-1B requires cap timing or a cap-exempt gap if you're transferring from academia.
Browse Open Positions Using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Baptist Health South Florida Physics openings by visa type, so you only spend time on roles where your sponsorship category is already supported. That narrows your list before you contact a recruiter.
Ask Recruiters About Cap-Exempt Filing Eligibility
Hospitals affiliated with nonprofits or research programs can sometimes file H-1B petitions outside the annual cap. Ask Baptist Health's HR team directly whether the specific Physics position qualifies for cap-exempt status, since the answer depends on departmental affiliation.
Prepare for PERM Labor Certification Timelines
If your goal is an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card through Baptist Health, PERM labor certification with DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the I-140 petition. Factor this into your overall authorization timeline from day one.
Align Your Start Date with H-1B Cap Deadlines
Cap-subject H-1B filings for October 1 start dates require USCIS registration in March. If your offer comes after the lottery closes, negotiate a start date for the following fiscal year or explore OPT or TN as bridge authorization while you wait.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Baptist Health South Florida sponsor H-1B visas for Physicists?
Yes, Baptist Health South Florida sponsors H-1B visas for Physics roles. The organization has an established track record of supporting international hires across clinical and research physics functions. If you're a cap-subject applicant, sponsorship depends on USCIS lottery selection in March for an October 1 start. If you're already H-1B eligible through another employer, a transfer petition is a faster path.
How do I apply for Physics jobs at Baptist Health South Florida?
Apply directly through Baptist Health South Florida's careers portal, or browse current Physics openings filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. Which visa types does Baptist Health South Florida commonly use for Physics roles?
Baptist Health South Florida sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Physics positions. H-1B is most common for long-term hires. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with a qualifying physics degree and a job offer in hand. F-1 OPT and CPT are typically used for early-career or graduate-level positions.
What qualifications does Baptist Health South Florida expect for Physics candidates?
Clinical physics roles typically require a master's or doctoral degree in medical physics from a CAMPEP-accredited program, along with ABR board certification or eligibility. Research-oriented positions may prioritize a strong publication record and doctoral training in a relevant physics discipline. Hands-on experience with radiation therapy equipment, imaging systems, or dosimetry is frequently listed in job descriptions across the health system.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take for Physics roles at Baptist Health South Florida?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B transfers from an existing sponsor can move in four to six weeks with premium processing. New cap-subject H-1B petitions follow the annual March lottery cycle, with employment starting October 1. TN status for Canadian nationals can be obtained at the border on the same day as your offer letter. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs 18 to 36 months from initiation to I-140 approval.
