Align your credentials with Cummins trade standards
Cummins prioritizes technicians with documented certifications in areas like diesel systems, hydraulics, or precision machining. Before applying, verify your credentials translate clearly to U.S. standards and gather official transcripts or certification records that USCIS adjudicators can evaluate for specialty occupation or equivalency purposes.
Target Cummins facilities with active production demand
Cummins operates large manufacturing campuses in Indiana, North Carolina, and Mississippi. Roles tied to high-volume production lines or new product launches tend to move faster through headcount approval and are more likely to include sponsorship budget from the outset.
Distinguish OPT from H-1B timing in your outreach
If you're on F-1 OPT, clarify upfront that you can start immediately without H-1B approval. Cummins hiring teams for technician roles sometimes conflate the two timelines, and surfacing this distinction early prevents sponsorship assumptions from stalling your offer.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage requirements early
H-1B and PERM filings for manufacturing roles require DOL-certified prevailing wages tied to specific SOC codes. Confirm with Cummins HR which occupational classification they intend to use for your role, since misclassification between technician and engineer codes can delay the Labor Condition Application.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Manufacturing Technician roles at Cummins
Filtering for sponsorship-confirmed manufacturing roles at a specific employer manually is time-consuming. Migrate Mate lets you browse verified Manufacturing Technician openings at Cummins directly, so you apply to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than discovering it late in the process.
Address TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Industrial engineers and certain technician classifications can qualify for TN status under USMCA, which requires no lottery and can be processed at the border or port of entry. If your role qualifies, raise TN as an option with Cummins HR before they default to H-1B cap planning.

Find Manufacturing Technician at Cummins JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Cummins sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Technicians?
Yes, Cummins sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Technician roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. Because H-1B eligibility depends on the specific job duties and the degree requirement tied to that role, Cummins HR will assess the occupational classification before committing to sponsorship. Technician roles with clear engineering or systems specialization tend to qualify most consistently.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Technician jobs at Cummins?
Apply through Cummins' careers portal directly, or use Migrate Mate to find verified Manufacturing Technician openings at Cummins where visa sponsorship is already confirmed. When applying, highlight any certifications in diesel, electrical systems, or precision manufacturing, since Cummins screens for hands-on technical qualifications early in the process. Tailor your resume to the specific facility and product line listed in the posting.
Which visa types does Cummins commonly use for Manufacturing Technician roles?
Cummins uses a range of visa categories for Manufacturing Technicians depending on the applicant's background and citizenship. H-1B is the most common path for degree-holding international candidates. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for recent graduates already in the U.S. Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN status. For longer-term permanent residency, Cummins supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for qualified technicians.
What qualifications does Cummins expect for Manufacturing Technician positions?
Cummins typically looks for an associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical field such as mechanical engineering technology, electrical systems, or industrial maintenance, along with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments. Certifications in diesel engine systems, quality control processes, or CNC operation strengthen your profile. For visa sponsorship purposes, your credentials need to demonstrate a direct connection to the specialty occupation being petitioned.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Cummins Manufacturing Technician role?
Timeline depends on the visa type. F-1 OPT allows you to start within days of offer acceptance. H-1B petitions filed under the regular cap take six to nine months from lottery selection to approved start date, with USCIS premium processing available to reduce adjudication to roughly 15 business days. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-3 typically adds two to four years before priority date movement, depending on your country of birth.
