Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Service Tech Jobs at Cummins Jobs
Certify Your Credentials Before Applying
Cummins Service Tech roles often require documented proof of diesel or industrial equipment training. Get your certifications from ASE, OEM training programs, or a technical college transcribed and ready before you submit an application.
Target Roles Tied to Cummins Product Lines
Filter your search by Cummins' core business units: engines, filtration, or power generation. Roles supporting specific product lines tend to have clearer specialty occupation arguments, which matters when your employer files an H-1B petition with USCIS.
Browse Open Service Tech Positions on Migrate Mate
Cummins posts Service Tech openings across multiple U.S. locations at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles at Cummins that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're not manually sorting through postings that won't move your immigration forward.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During the Offer Stage
Cummins sponsors multiple visa types, but not every hiring manager knows which applies to your situation. Ask your recruiter directly whether the role supports your visa category before accepting an offer, so there are no surprises when HR initiates the filing.
Understand the Labor Condition Application Timeline
Your employer must file a certified LCA with DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. At a manufacturer like Cummins, internal legal and HR review adds time before that filing begins, so build at least eight to ten weeks into your start date expectations.
Align Your OPT or TN Status with Cummins Hiring Cycles
Cummins runs structured hiring cycles for technical roles, particularly around Q1 and Q3. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window covers onboarding and any STEM OPT extension filing before accepting a role in a manufacturing facility.

Find Service Tech at Cummins JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Cummins sponsor H-1B visas for Service Techs?
Yes, Cummins sponsors H-1B visas for Service Tech roles. The position typically needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which means demonstrating that the role requires at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific technical field. Roles tied to Cummins' engine or power systems divisions tend to present stronger specialty occupation arguments than general maintenance positions.
Which visa types does Cummins commonly use for Service Tech roles?
Cummins supports several visa categories for Service Techs, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in eligible programs, J-1 for exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards through EB-2 or EB-3 pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, education level, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Cummins expect for Service Tech roles?
Cummins typically looks for hands-on experience with diesel engines, industrial equipment, or power generation systems, along with formal technical training or a relevant degree. Certifications from programs like ASE or OEM-specific training carry weight. For specialty occupation visa filings, having a bachelor's degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering discipline strengthens your case with USCIS.
How do I apply for Service Tech jobs at Cummins?
You can find and apply for Service Tech positions at Cummins through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles specifically open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight experience with Cummins product lines or comparable equipment. Cummins recruits for technical roles on a rolling basis, so setting up job alerts for relevant locations and specializations gives you an edge on new postings.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship at a company like Cummins?
The H-1B cap lottery opens each March for an October 1 start date, so you need an offer secured well before then. Cummins' internal legal review, DOL Labor Condition Application certification, and USCIS filing each add time. Premium processing through USCIS can reduce adjudication to 15 business days, but the full process from offer to approval still spans several months in most cases.
